LeBron James

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I feel like LeBron will push his way out of the Lakers in the summer if they don't land any big name players from trade or free agency. I think Magic will resign but trade away LeBron to his preferred team before he does.
I don’t think he will leave after one year. Just my opinion. I think the expectations were not high enough in the first place for him to feel he didn’t meet them. OK, they probably at least need to make the playoffs and not get swept out in the first round (at the extreme minimum)

Not buying this not being about basketball. LeBron's ego is way too big. Sure, it's a better spot for business and likely preferred by his family, but LeBron absolutely thought guys would flock to him in LA. The writing was on the wall that Kawhi and AD were going to be available and PG was a free agent.

The master plan wasn't to sign every knucklehead available and then nab Muscala at the deadline. This was a gross miscalculation by LeBron and Magic.

Lebron went there partly because he couldn’t get FA’s to come to CLE. He said that recent (the FA part).
LA is a desirable market/city for NBA players. This year was always going to be a wash. The AD stuff just made it interesting.
Now they’re back to luring a FA this summer.
The shit will hit the fan if they strike out though- which is a definite possibility. Durant and Kyrie can go to NY, Kawai can go to the Clippers or stay in Toronto, Clay can stay in GS. Someone can put together a better offer (Boston?) for AD.
Then what?
The greatest player on the world aging quietly with no one watching on the west coast. Sad.

Forbes valuations say his departure dropped the team valuation just 4%, from $1.325B to $1.275B. That little a drop?

Big road win for him tonight after the previous disaster.

DeMarcus Cousins and Jimmy Butler come on doooowwwwwnnn

It's just sad.

I realize the Cavs are in bad shape at the moment but my expectations for them sans LeBron are never all that high.

LeBron...just I feel sorry for the dude basketball-wise. This is fucking sad. Kinda expected the dude to go out in tears clinching the O'Brien in Cleveland or some random locker room (in a Cavs jersey) then hanging it up.

Meanwhile the NBA itself is currently trash. When the two leading stories are "ZOMG JAMES HARDEN" (Fuck him) and a team that pulled some shady shit to become unbeatable Warriors (Double fuck them)? you got some problems.

Maybe he pulls some magic out of his ass...but damn dude...would have been better had you just stayed here.

I don’t know if that’s the idea he had going to LA. I malcontent in his thirty’s who is a bad teammate and a C coming off a torn Achilles who’s also a lockeroom problem.
Those are like opinions 6-7...

If he does indeed pull Magic out of his ass, then he should seek immediate medical attention and start finalizing his will.

All self inflicted. He will ride into the sunset in a Lakers jersey, break Kareem's record, and no one outside of LA will give a damn.

It's pretty interesting. I think becoming a mercenary really changes the way fans view you. Durant is dealing with this in the worst way. He is the best player on the best team, but no one would call him the best in the game. It's amazing the way the GS fans hold him at arms length.

Lebron erased his defection to Miami with the return and calling it "college" for him. That was smart, but this latest move makes everything about him ring hollow now. I even think back to Pat Riley saying "You can't give up and leave when things get tough", and that seems even more applicable today.

He has done lasting damage to his legacy and joined an incredibly capricious fan base. What happens when he realizes it wasn't just Cleveland that made other stars reluctant to join him?

I cant wait for the day we have something in place that attracts a decent free agent. Cant see it happening soon, but there will be a day. If the Browns can do it after 20 years of ineptitude, so can the Cavs.

I was at the game tonight out of some kind of morbid curiosity. I don’t think LA fans will even care because he’s not Kobe.

His legacy will be tied to Lebron Stans like the ones that traded in their Cavs jerseys for Lakers gear in cities like Atlanta and Cleveland fans like us thankful for a championship.
