Let’s Talk About Screening

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The Nets game really showed how bad the state of screening is. So many points could be had if they could get the defenders off the ballhandler's ass like other teams appear to be able to do

Rubio and DG have to work so damn hard to get open. Meanwhile you see Patty Mills tonight getting wide open threes with seconds to shoot it because their team just sets proper screens.

Doesn’t hurt that he has Durant, Harden, & Aldridge keeping the defense busy either. But, you are right, those guys have been in the league a long time and have learned a thing or two about how to play.

The weak screens, almost none existent off-ball movement, and bad defense on screens is gotta be tied to coaching.

Our guards smack into the screen every single time. No one goes under on non-shooters or feels like fighting over them. The defensive positioning is just bad. Some of those rotations on defense were just really bad in general, except for D-Wade, he killed it with his help defense and individual defense on Durant.

Like there's no way JBB is telling Okoro and Garland(when Rubio is directing the offense) to park their asses at the corner on almost every play, then trying to post up Lauri against other bigs and James Harden when that man has no interest in playing physical.

He's coaching like a combination of Thibs and Mike Brown. Props that he has these guys playing hard, but they have a lot to clean up.

This is all by design. This is absolutely Sidney Lowe Vancouver Grizzlies offense we're running. It was atrocious 20 years ago and didn't lead to success. It's even worse 20 years later.
