Aiighht.... I admit- I never saw this coming. Jeremy Lin. I mean...he got waived by Golden State. Usually if you can't make it there, you can't make it anywhere. But 3rd game and counting, Mike D'Antoni says he's gonna "ride him like he's freakin' Secretariat". Granted, this is the Wizards non-existent defense, but still. Check the dunk at 3:20- bet Knicks fans heads exploded :chuckles:

And how ironic is it with all NY's PG problems, people were bemoaning how they lost Billups the floor general from last year, to get this Carmelo thing done- only to have Billups go down for the year? Then to have this kid step up in the same week- weird timing.

Lin was California POY his senior year of high school and averaged LeBron numbers in the Ivy League, but what is happening right now is far surpassing my "I told you so" moment. I didn't think he'd be this good.

From the NY Times report on Lin tonight:

The Lin phenomenon is quickly spreading. A group of five Asian-American men in the lower bowl wore blue shirts with orange lettering, spelling out “LIN 17.” Fans sitting near the visitors’ tunnel leaned over to snap photos of Lin as he passed by. Others held homemade signs (“Lin for the win”). The Wizards issued an extra 15 media credentials, all for Chinese and Taiwanese reporters who came to see Lin, whose parents are from Taiwan.

:chuckles:

Very weird timing indeed. Take into consideration Melo has played a very low-key season so far, Stoudemire's brother dies and they don't get Baron Davis back after some hype about that.

This is all shaping up nicely for a Heat-Knicks playoff series. When Baron is fully healthy, he is going to change the swagger of this team. Idk Im happy for Baron Davis, something about him seems right in "the Mecca" of basketball. (Even though New York fans are about as smart as their personnel decisions over the years.)

With the 24/7 news media capital of the world twittering every single time LeBron James misses a crucial shot.... This could be like playing in a nuclear radiation infested war-torn area of Nagasaki to LeChoke,

Having the underdog king in BD doesn't hurt NY either.

1. Billups came to the Knicks alongside Melo in last seasons trade
2. Billups got waived so that the Knicks could sign Chandler
3. Billups is playing for the Clippers now, but yes injured his achilles

I'd like to see him do these things with someone actually guarding him, and with the team actually playing something that even remotely looked like defense.

In the politest way possible, please go check the video and tell me what is on his chin.

I think it's hysterical that he doesn't have a house or even his own bed....he lives in his bro's apartment and sleeps on his couch.

True but you get the point- to get this monster built they had to chop off its head.

Yeah, I had to throw that Washington qualifier in there because I knew that would get called. And TBH that's how Deron Williams was playing him in his 1st game- looked like he was afraid to touch or sneeze on him. As soon as some of the bigger PGs decide to put him on his butt a few times we'll see how it goes. But he seems to keep his court vision wide while keeping his dribble up, like a Nash, so it's not like he's constantly probing on the dribble and they can just go cold clock him one.

I think the Lakers letting this guy go is going to haunt the shit out of them.

Landry Fields and Jeremy Lin’s new handshake: skimming through book, taking off glasses, then placing inside pocket protector.

Do you mean the Warriors or Rockets? Lin received offers to sign with the Mavs and Lakers but decided to sign with the Warriors, who let him go, as did the Rockets. He never signed with the Lakers.

That is what happens when you go to a party school...

Possible I am wrong but I thought he went to camp with the Lakers, I know they made him an unguaranteed offer.
