Malware warning?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
just had the malware virus doctor thing pop up like 3 times in a row, bit defender detected it and blocked two trojans trying to install into my computer

I just got that too. This was the only site i was on...

It's just the ads that are on the site. Not any other content on the site should be giving you a virus. Just becareful on which ads you choose to click on.

Also, if you could report which ad was on the banner while this was happening, it would be very helpful.

Thanks.

I'm not clicking on any ads. Had to scan my computer 4 times in 3 days. Only happens when I'm on this site. I have no idea what banner ads were running.

It just happen to me while in this thread. Law Firm of lawrence Landshroker and associates ad was up.

It has happened to me about 4 times in the last week. I use AVG, and it always gets blocked, so no harm done, but I thought someone would want to know this.

On the plus side, I tried the Ultimate Meatballs this past week. That sauce is deeeelicious.

I have had this happen. What is happening is there is a dropper code embedded into something (ad, popup, js package). What it does is downloads a program that in turn downloads fake AV software to your computer. What these do are fake scans that tell you that you have a bunch of viruses on your computer then when you click on them they do some nasty stuff.

Keep in mind that you do not have to click the ad for this to happen as it is more than likely embedded into the code that generates the ad (more often than not attached to a flash player file).

They are annoying as well. Usually they aren't harmful just a little obnoxious and most AV software can get rid of them. Then there is Comsys.a or SOPIDKC.exe these are very bad...

Yea I'm getting this occasionally as well. These "ads" are taking over the site, and it's making things difficult.

While I've had the malware warnings, I just got a new one after trying to visit the site. As the main page was loading, I was taken to some site with "armyprotection" in it and the site itself was decked out to look like a virus scanner in progress, despite the scanners I have being AVG and Super Anti Spyware. Quickly closed my browser. First time that had happened, though.

Well, theres nothing we can do because we cannot afford to pay out of our own pockets to keep the site up. If the ads go, the site would have to go with em.

It is a fake AV scan program. They are annoying and clog your computer with little .exes that could double as keyloggers or such.

The trojan notification, malware warnings, etc. I get around 3-5x a day on this site. I've never clicked on any ads on this site. Most of the time it comes up 5-10 seconds after opening a new thread or clicking on a new page in a thread. Just wanted to let you know that the warnings and virus notifications come even when you don't click an ad, so it's not something that is under the reader/poster's control.

Get Firefox and Ad-Block Plus

Never have a problem with ads, this is what my screen looks like:
