MBA?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
See all the people wanting a bailout from their college tuition/loans......do the smart thing and go to the program you can afford.

Unless you are rich, have a full ride scholarship or mommy and daddy are rich and paying, school name really doesn't matter all that much when you have experience in your field. It's typically a checkbox to move up that you have any Masters.

I don't think the name on the degree matters whatsoever.

However, the better programs do offer you better connections--and that's what matters.

If I were in your position, I'd roll the dice on Ohio State

I think it does matter some in the initial years out and OSU is going to make a difference over a correspondence school

A big issue is whether you are using the MBA to help you in your current employer where they know you or whether you are trying to land a new position, even in a new industry. If the latter then the kind of recruiters the school attracts make a big difference. If you are staying with your current employer it matters a lot less.

I also work for a certain local utility company and am currently working on finishing my bachelors in business management through Bowling Green so I will be following this!

I’ve spoken with several managers/directors who all seemed to agree that, at least with this company (which I plan on being with for the foreseeable future, not sure if you are as well), the name of the school is much less important than completing the actual program.

Good luck!!
We probably know each other ha. They have been reimbursing me so I will definitely be staying here for a bit.

I never saw value in MBA per se. But get a masters in a more specific field and it definitely helps.. something like accounting, ao finance
I have worked in NFP Audit / Accounting for 20 years. I left public accounting in 2013 or so... I never finished my masters never enough time / fucked around too much when I wasn't working, I have worked in NYC Independent Schools at a Director or Executive Director level since 2016. Took a few years worked in the legal department at the ASPCA for Internal Audit after public... Not finishing my masters it held me back in public accounting to get past Senior Manager but my experience overall got me to where I am now and perhaps knowing some people. I wish I didn't fuck around so much in my 20's when I had more time and finished my masters. Masters in general is great especially one in a field you work within. Also, in my opinion where you get it from doesn't matter as much if you are in your 30's etc... Go with what is affordable... Good luck...

I knew a couple people who got a masters in accounting because a CPA requires 150 hours and a masters was 30 hours more than a bachelor's degree which was 128 hours so it had a lot of sense for people who wanted to get a CPA. The ones I knew who did it just did a fifth year at the same school or took summer classes so they could do it in 4 years.

As someone with a MBA from Kent (received Dec 95) go get yours from Ohio State or more recognized institution.

Better to have & have better connections then what you ultimately need. The more you put in effort wise, the better off you are down the road.
