Monitoring Russell Westbrook’s Clippers tenure…

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Nice little tribute vid

This was such a rare instance where the player a franchise deserves is exactly who they get, like KPJ with the tanking Rockets. The Lakers wanted a 'superstar' for nothing because they are the Lakers; and they got a guy whose game oozes the same unearned sense of entitlement and obliviousness to the situation that both the franchise and fan base have.

I was thinking a few days ago that some franchises are “entitled franchises.” The fans and the media just believe success is OWED to them.

The Yankees (spit) are the original entitled franchise. Celtics and Lakers are the two entitled BB franchises although I find the Lakers to be the more entitled of the two. NFL is a bit tougher because it’s hard to maintain success over a long period of time although the Patriots did it with Brady.

The problem with the entitled franchises is that they dominate media coverage even when they stink. The Lakers are a trash ass franchise now that had a brief moment of glory only because LeBron went there and AD followed but that one moment can’t hide the utter ineptitude from Jerry’s daughter on down. The trade deadline was perfect because it gave the Lakers fanbase and media sycophants just enough reason to hope for the playoffs but it will end badly of course.

There are entitled College programs too - Duke for one, and in football it used to be Notre Dame but their recent team haven’t been up to their historical success. The entitled FB fans now are in Alabama and - gotta be real - Columbus.

In Cleveland we don’t have that problem.

Why Does Westbrook get so much hate?
He talks and acts like a top ten player even though he's completely fell off a cliff and isn't in the conversation. If he accepted his reality and played as a 6th man or bench microwave player people would hate him less. Personally, I've got no issue.

Westbrook having a career resurgence with the Clippers and going further than (ideally even eliminating) the Lakers would be a such a fantastic plot twist...
I believe the best statistical year of PG3's career was with Russ. Could be interesting.

I think that is exactly what is going to happen.

Think it’s a good fit for him both on and off the court. He doesn’t have to move his family and he gets to go to a roster that desperately needs a traditional point guard.

Clippers were my WC dark horse and this WCF series between them and the Nuggets is going to be epic.
