What if Marbury's involvement in a three-way deal with the Kings and Cavs is enough to revive the long-rumored Mike Bibby-to-Cleveland talks and get Anderson Varejao out of Ohio?
I don't know if this works or not, but the trade rumors are working on Isiah.
The real question is this: Does Isiah have one more bad trade in him?
How about a three way which lands Bibby and David Lee in Cleveland in exchange for Hughes and expirings, and clears sends Starbucks to the Kings. Kings have enough contracts to move in Artest,Thomas and Bibby (28 million), Hughes and Artest would wind up in NYC, and expirings would wind up in Sactown. Probably would require a 1 pick and maybe a prospect guy from NY since they will have to clear roster.
So in Cleveland it is Hughes, Newble, Brown for Bibby and Lee, and Salmons.
We get a point guard and a power forward who is a rebounding machine.
In New York it is Starbury, Lee, Fred Jones and any one of Crawford, Rose, or Jeffries for Hughes, Artest, Thomas, and Brown
New York rids themselves of a cancer, and picks up a cancer who actually plays hard (that would be Ron Ron) a defensive all star in Hughes who can also play some point and actually has better shot selection than Starbucks. and a decent rebounder to rest Randolph.
And in Sactown it is Bibby, Artest, Salmons and Thomas for Starbucks, Jones, Rose/Crawford/Jeffries and Newble.
They get 7 million in expiring contracts, a star point guard who is likly to walk from a losing team, taking his 20 million dollar option with him next year, and a contributing big (like Rose) to fill in for thomas, but with one less year on his contract. Sactown saves 17 million dollars, even if Starbucks re-ups. But he becomes a tradeable asset next year as an expiring which could land them some decent pieces. I also think they would want a pick, which will be a sticking point. but I could see a second rounder from us, and NY, possibly a first rounder from NY.
