Moses Brown: What's Up With Him?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm positive you were really down on Hartenstein last year but that's whatever. Everyone is wrong about players all the time.
Weird that you’re positive when you’re absolutely wrong.
I'm not.. but it doesn't matter. You can check it out for yourself.

Anyways, he is a good player. Could have had him for a bargain price, but we chose Kabengele. And yes, we would have had a spot for him clearly.
Well, you’re wrong on this one.

I’m certain I know what my opinions are on players. I was someone who wanted to see Hart get more minutes even back when he was in Houston.

And come on… we didn’t choose Kabengele over Hart. That’s a misrepresentation of the situation.

Brown is a project, but I think appropriate. He fits our scheme, and has a reasonably probability of being useful. Interesting that he could not G League minutes with Texas, when he was the only guy over 6'8"..

Kind of appropriate someone named Moses is playing for Cleveland.
He might not stay much longer in Cleveland than Moses Cleaveland.

The whole topic is hilarious to me. We have people killing JBB for not giving enough minutes to Moses and Goodwin when the real issue is our injuries have been severe enough that we have to rely on those two bums at all this late in the season. Moses vs Embiid? That would be like asking Freddie Childress to block Aaron Donald.

Brown is 7'2", not a stiff, has some semblance of basketball IQ and he's younger than some of the guys playing in the tournament. Cav's should keep him for next year. He'd have a guaranteed spot on some roster right now if he was able to hit 75% of his free throws.

I would keep Moses.. long term our bigs situation is pretty good. Basically he is the last option among Allen, Markk, Mobley, Love, Wade if he returns.. Davis becomes a luxury..

I also think JBB is a better big man coach than most.. So I think we can optimize MB..

He's unplayable against any center who can knock down 3 point shots, unless he can be coached up to get closer than 6 feet away when his man stands outside the arc. He didn't even try to contest Bamba even after Bamba knocked down threes like it was pregame warmup.

Hard to say if he wasn't doing what his coach asked or if he was doing what his coach asked.

He's not an Evan Mobley or Jarrett Allen replacement because he isn't close on the BBIQ side of things that's for sure, but you could do worse for a 4th big in 2022.

Brown doesn't really have much of a BBIQ, but he can be competent if he is given an assignment that is within his abilities, it is a simple assignment, and he doesn't have to make a lot of other decisions on the fly. That has really been the secret of his limited success (and his failings) with the Cavs thus far. He can run the floor and get lobs, he can do the pick and roll, he can rebound, and he can block some shots. He can't do much else offensively and defensively without extensive coaching and time for repetitions and is going to have trouble making in-game adjustments (hence the problem when Bamba started making threes).

I'm not gonna gravedig, but I remember sharing my excitement for adding Moses Brown and someone telling me to enjoy Moses for 10 days...

And look at him now...added to the postseason roster.
