Myles Garrett : NFL 2023 DPOY

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Being offside 'roughs' up the other team?

He was whooping their tackles all night. If the cost of that is a few 5-yard offsides penalties on the less than 50/50 chance he jumps offsides before blazing past the tackle to drop the QB, I'll take it. He needs to clean-up the personal fouls, but he's timing the snap when he's jumping offsides. His timing of the snaps currently has him atop the NFL in sacks thus far.

Jets are lucky. Probably easier to recover from Mono than it is a bad case of Garettitis. They were also lucky that Le'veon wasn't taking snaps by the end of that game. Bring on the Rams!

Rams tight end Tyler Higbee suffered a bruised lung and offensive lineman Austin Blythe a left ankle sprain during the Rams’ 27-9 victory over the New Orleans Saints, coach Sean McVay said Monday.
McVay described both players’ status as “day to day,” but the nature of Higbee’s injury would indicate that he is less likely than Blythe to play at Cleveland, which picked up its first win Monday night, 23-3 over the New York Jets.

NFL leader in penalties.
Tied with 4 other guys

Sole leader in sacks

At this point it’s obvious that you have some weird gripe with the Browns where you just dial in on any negative and take joy in doing it. Super quick in that baker Mayfield thread last night with hard hitting analysis. Only beat out by last week’s serious zinger of “do you guys know Hulu has live sports”

You always get on people on the Indians board for providing lazy negative takes and not contributing much but you’re the carbon copy of that in the Browns section. To borrow a line from you, do better.

Honestly, the other side losing a down and 10 yards in a sack is pretty much mitigated if you're giving back 15 yards and a first down with personal fouls.

Dude had two personal fouls and has lead the league in Offsides penalties for two years.

I'm sorry discussing it offends your delicate sensibilities. It needs to be corrected.

Not everything is a personal affront toward or against the franchise, get a hold of yourself.

See, there is my problem with the call. The refs didn't tell him he was late, they said he was too high. Both hits were just below his shoulders, neither were in the head, and frankly going too low is a penalty too. Anywhere on his torso should be fair game, but these refs think high torso hits are illegal too? Then where are you supposed to fucking hit a qb.

I see this with other plyers too, but the reason why Myles is getting these calls the most is because no one is hitting the qb nearly as much as Myles. He has 5 sacks and something like 10 qb hits. In the modern NFL this is just what happens when you hit the qb so much.

ok then discuss it. Bring something to the table. Because for a while now you’ve posted nothing but one liners that are critical of Mayfield and the team

And don’t play dumb. Pretty much every one of your posts is a personal affront against the Browns. You can pull the “who, me?! I’m just stating the facts!” All you want but it’s incredibly transparent

When you actually try you bring great analysis. What you’ve been doing lately is every bit what you get on posters in the Indians section for

Anyway, I agree that Garrett needs to clean up his penalties. But that was the only thing being discussed. I wanted to put in perspective he has looked every bit like the best edge in the NFL through 2 weeks. And the numbers reflect it.

If an offsides a game is the price to pay for Myles being one of the most disruptive players in the league, I’ll pay it. I’d obviously prefer the best of both worlds, but if his timing of the snap is that critical and every once in a while it results in an offsides so be it. The 15 yarders are my bigger area of concern

But again, playing like the best edge in the NFL at the age of 23.... so yeah

Thank you.

Myles is the last player on this team to be worried about. The offsides penalties get a bit annoying, but it happens.

Roughing the passer is a broken rule in the NFL (like many others), there's really not much he can do about that. Anyone who watches NFL on a single Sunday can see it's a broken rule.

I can only hope he doesn't change anything to try to abide by a broken rule.
