I'm sure that others have favorite sleeper teams: fire away.

I like Oakland, Murray St., Northern Iowa, Cornell, Siena, St. Mary's, UTEP, Louisville, and Missouri in the first round.

I actually have UTEP going to the sweet 16.

Any bold predictions?

I have UTEP in the Sweet 16 as well, and I have Louisville beating Duke in round 2. There are some others but I think these are the most relevant ones I have. Almost everyone is picking Siena and Cornell though.

Aw, I have UTEP in the Sweet 16 as well...

My other big one is Wofford over Wisconsin.

I like BYU going pretty far... not the Final Four, but far. Can't doubt all those 25 year old Mormons playing immature kids. :gap:

Oakland reminds me of that CSU team from last year... an athletic team that has been together for a few seasons.

I have Tenn beating GTown (went back and forth on that one), UTEP beating Butler but they won't get past Vandy, And the big one, TEXAS beating UK

I like St. Mary's and Minnesota for the first round and Notre Dame to advance two rounds (upsetting Baylor should they win).

I love the combination of young talent at UTEP with a rejuvenated Derrick Character... plenty of pro-potential size to match up with Vanderbilt.

I can't wait for MYoung to tear into me for my love for Omar Samhan at St. Mary's and Camakazee attacking my ouster of Pitt in the first round. :chuckles:

EDIT: There you go, Camakazee... drink it in. Your Oakland in Pittsburgh is no match for the REAL Oakland. HOLLA!

It didn't take too long.

Honestly, I can't be too offended, this team has been extremely inconsistent this year. But that will happen when you lose your two best players to the pros and the 3rd leading assist man in the nation all in one season.

The thing about the Panthers this year is the fact their run will either be extremely exciting and unexpected or very underwhelming. In the bracket they're in I could see them just as easily make a serious final four run by defeating K-State (overrated 2 seed) and Syracuse (Pitt's the only team to beat them in Syracuse this year IIRC) as they could lose in either of the first two rounds. So for this reason, I'm not going to attack you... too much ;)

cam here is a good question for you.

Lets assuming that a person just decided to select the highest seed for every bracket choice of the tournament. until obviously the final four when they would just randomly guess.

would that or actually trying to fill out a non weighted bracket end up with more points? from a general standpoint. i have always wondered if we all think way too much about this sort of thing and if we shouldnt just always select the higher seed.

the logic behind it for those of you curious is generally the higher seeds go further no matter how you break it down. So lets assuming in the 2nd round you have a 7 beating a 2. you would get.. 2 points (i think) for that. where as lets say you carried the 2 seed through till they lost to the 1st seed. does the 7th seed really have that big of a chance to go ahead and win the next couple of games to make up for removing the 2nd seed so early.

obviously its pretty complicated but i have always wondered that.

I have Ohio University beating Georgetown

Duke by far has the easiest road out of all the number 1 seeds to the final 4.

Not that they're really a "sleeper" per se, but I have Notre Dame going a lot deeper in the tournament than most do. That's one of the best 6 seeds I've ever seen. That team has beaten a LOT of good opponents this year, many of whom were ranked. I like Harangody a lot and I think he can lead that team pretty deep.

I always over-rate Wisconsin because of their defense. EVERY. YEAR. I'm doing it again. Some year I'll get it right...

My strategy this year was to look at each team's schedule and see how they did against other tournament teams. I ONLY looked at tournament teams, so if the team sucked against shitty competition...I missed it.

I'm hoping that works, but when my sister-in-law who does NOT follow sports wins a 12-man bracket two years in a row you know that strategy has little to do with NCAA brackets. :chuckles:

I have got a few upsets in the first rd but my big big ones are that I have UTEP and Washington in the sweet 16

I also got Gtown over OSU just for you buckeye fans lol

but here is my big upset watch... I put a big bet down on Vermont playing Syracuse

now I know all of you are going to say Im crazy but I am getting 18 points and this Vermont team is tough and the Blakely kid can really play ball not to mention they have the emotional edge with the one kid who lost his mother last week and the whole team is playing for him and his dad...

Now they may struggle to score a bit but Syracuse is also sans the big fella in this game and Vermont is a solid defensive team themselves...The Zone would seem like a great D to stop this Vermont team but without the big man in the middle I think they will be able to Get inside a little bit more than thye would have and be able to keep it within 20...

no i dont think that Vermont quite wins lol but I do think that I win that bet

1st round upsets...Northern Iowa over UNLV, Georgia Tech over Oklahoma St., Florida St. over Gonzaga, UTEP over Butler, Murray St. over Vanderbilt, Washington over Marquette, Louisville over California

2nd round upsets...Michigan St. over Maryland, Tennessee over Georgetown, Temple over Wisconsin, Richmond over Villanova

The I also have Baylor beating Duke to get into the final 4...Kentucky over Kansas in the final...
