SEASON SERIES: Nets, 2-0.

LAST MEETING: Cavs went into Jersey started hot then laid an egg, they tried to make a very late rally but fell 96-91.Down 2-0 in the series this was the reason we missed the playoffs was not beating them last year.

TCF's Keys to the game

*We have to stop letting VC or RJ taking turns lighting us up,it is ridiculous

*Use the crowd energy, come on crowd this one is on you guys!!!

*Establish Ilgauskas and Gooden, you can say Kristic and Collins are gooden but they can't guard those 2

*Slow the Nets starters down, they rely on their starters too much and thats how they win

*LeBron keep looking for teammates and take over when you need to,that is how we have been winning

Final Note
They ended their 4 game skid by beating Detroit last night, they have confidence but we do too with our 6 game winning streak.Extend it to 7 and move on from there,Indy is falling off along with the Bulls.

Score:91-87 Cavs win

We never play well vs New Jersey. This is going to be a wall to wall fist fight til the end. If we could make our FREETHROWS we should come out with a victory at home.

Heres for another good performance from LeBron and Z.

PS: I hate Vince Carter.

103-97 Loss :( They have our number

Tough one here tonight. New Jersey do have our number but all bad runs must have an end. The Nets are backing up on the road after a tough physical and mental matchup against the Pistons last night. We come in with energy, we can play through some of these mismatches.

It is time for LeBron to finally place some defensive pressure on Jefferson. RJ has had his measure in the last few meets so we look for some much needed defensive execution. LeBron also needs to make sure he doesn't take this game as a personal scoring battle with their wings. He needs to utilise Ilgauskas often and early.

Someone tell Krstic not to don the lipstick for these phot shoots.

February 1 -- Every great team or individual has a nemesis.

Sometimes, it can define them. The Lakers had the Celtics and Magic Johnson had Larry Bird. Superman had Lex Luthor. Seinfeld had Newman.
The Cavaliers have been without a nemesis during the LeBron James era. But the New Jersey Nets are climbing up the charts. They’ve beaten the Cavaliers twice already this season and are 2-8 against them over the past three.

Last year, Richard Jefferson broke the Cavaliers’ backs in the game before Christmas with an uncontested alley-oop at the buzzer for a one-point win at Continental Airlines Arena and the Nets were the team who took the eighth and final playoff spot from Cleveland on the final night of the season.

Simply put, the Cavaliers just don’t match up well with the Nets.

“I don’t know much about them, but I know they have our number – they’re 2-0 against us,” said Coach Mike Brown after practice on Tuesday afternoon. “We have to make sure that we get back to doing what we do, which is play solid team defense.”

Like the Cavaliers, the Nets have been a streaky team this year. They just lost four straight on the road before topping the heavyweight Pistons on Tuesday night in New Jersey. The Nets have won nine straight on their home floor.

Unlike the Cavaliers, the Nets don’t count on one big star to carry the load, but rely on three of them – Jason Kidd, Richard Jefferson and Vince Carter. With New Jersey, it’s a pick-your-poison scenario every time they take the floor.

Cleveland has won six straight after losing six straight.

“We haven’t defended Richard Jefferson very well and he’s the one who’s hurting us,” said Donyell Marshall, of New Jersey’s advantage on the Cavaliers. “But a lot of it is the other guys on the team. You worry so much about the big three, but the other guys can get you, too. Letting a guy who normally scores three or four points get 10 or 11, that’s what can haunt you.”

Tonight is also the battle of the two youngest coaches in the league – Mike Brown and Lawrence Frank. Both started off hot and both were given the keys to a pretty nice situation.

The matchup with New Jersey is the first half of a very tough back-to-back. Cleveland heads to South Beach tomorrow night to take on Shaq Diesel, Dwyane Wade and the resurgent Miami Heat in a nationally-televised battle.

“They match up well with us; they’re one of the teams that does,” said LeBron James. “We just have to come out with defensive intensity that we have in the last six ballgames and just keep this going. We have to do a good job of sinking and filling and rotating on the defense end and try to get out and run on them.”

The Cavaliers would love to get the monkey off their back tonight at The Q.

It won’t be easy. It never is against the Nets.

We have Varejoe now. We have the beast from the south-east(Kinda).

I really want Cleveland to win this game. Even if it's true that a certain team has your number, you need to win because regardless of the reason or justification (even if correct), you don't want a defeatist attitude in your squad. You want your guys to think they can win regardless of whether it's the Pistons or the Nets on the other side. Cleveland controlled the tempo against the Suns, another great fastbreaking team, in the second half and won the game. The same thing is needed tonight.

These next 2 games vs. NJ and Miami are very critical games in my mind. We are rolling right now. I hope the momentuem doesnt stop. To me this game would be the ultimate confidance builder from here on out for NJ has had our #...

I, for one, will be extremely disappointed if we dump this one tonight. New Jersey may be a tough match-up for us, but we are rolling and we HAVE to get this game. It's not good to get that belief that a certain team has our number. A quality win tonight will justify my claim.........

New Jersey caught us back in December at home when we were still adjusting to our new personell, mired in that 7 losses in 9 games stretch. Before the New Year, we were riding another 6-game streak and were due for a clunker.

While they matchup well with us, I don't see them being able to stop Z, and that is the key to tonight's game. I also expect a big performance from Gooden as well. He is right on schedule for one......play 4 great games, no-show for two, repeat. He's on the "repeat" cycle now after his poor games against Phoenix and Charlotte.

Cavs take control early and withstand a mid-4th quarter run to win it 102-95.

Maybe they recalled Martynas to cover Vince. :chuckles:

Gooden has our first two baskets tonight. Nice to see Drew with a nice start.

Cleveland has an 8-0 lead and New Jersey calls time out.
