Thats all you really have to say? No way to back up what you said to me? You obviously get my point I guess..

:coffee:

Get back to me after we win a championship.

Alright, all I'm saying is a healthy Kaman does what Shaq does for this team. However, Kaman isn't a one year thing, thats why he has the edge in my book. You can't argue that and thats obviously why your not.

:fu:

Honestly, I'm not trying to be a tough guy. I just want his opinion on why what I'm saying is wrong, he's not backing what he said up.

Yes, I agree that overall career wise Shaq >>>> Kaman. However, right now for this team and it's future I say Kaman > Shaq.

Shaq unleaded or Shaq E-20 (the ethanol blend for the environmentally conscious, it's not as powerful but it presumably makes you feel better about yourself).

Nobody does what Shaq can do for any team. There is no other Shaq. Kaman will NOT command double teams. Kaman is NOT nearly the post passer Shaq is.

About the only thing he has on Shaq is that he's younger and he can shoot a bit. Other than that...I'm extremely excited at the prospect of Shaq pairing up with LeBron for at least 1 year..possibly 2 or 3.

If Kaman averages 16 pts &13 rebs and doesn't command a double team then the teams we are playing are doing something wrong. You say Shaq is a great post passer, but is that why we would get him? Hell no..He averaged 1.7 ast last year. Is that really worth arguing his passing is greater than Kaman's 1.2 career average? Obviously you know Shaq is 37, do you really think that he is going to be effective in 2 or 3 years when he's 40? And where would we get the money to pay him? Why would a Chris Kaman who is only 27 not be a better fit for this team? You also said he can shoot a bit, which will keep the floor spread and the lane open for LeBron which is another plus for Kaman.

Is there a way we can bring up all the comments people made when we traded for Mo?? I wonder how many of you were spewing your negativity :)

Well, like myself, you were not here on this message board when the Cavaliers acquired Mo Williams. The dynamics are different in this case. People were concerned about Mo's commitment to defense and work ethic. People now are concerned about Shaq's age and the fact that we still do not have a long term fix to our frontcourt. Call me crazy, but when J.J. Hickson isn't medically able to compete in summer league or really craft himself this summer when he supposedly our great savior to the future of the frontcourt worries me.

I would prefer Kaman to Shaq for two reasons. One, we don't burn up BOTH of our biggest trading chips (and STILL not satisfy Phoenix) for someone who although talented and has a championship pedigree and presence, is aged BEFORE the draft takes place. A trade for Shaq is a trade you make after there are no more options left because quite frankly not many teams are after him right now. Two, Kaman provides youth and an interesting dynamic. I think Kaman has more of a skillset than Shaq (both hands, midrange jumper), but Shaq is much more powerful and imposing in the post than Kaman. To be honest, I'm really not happy with either of them, but they are realistic options.

There are pros and cons to Shaq. I'm just not ready to jump on the OMG WE GOT SHAQ LOLZ YAY Bandwagon. This thread is premature.

I can't argue the age factor or where we'd get money to pay shaq.

What I personally think is that LeBron wants Shaq here.....and he probably said No to Kaman.

But I think you'll be surprised with Shaq...and he's been relatively durable throughout his career (except a few years ago, but he seems to be back in shape after getting with new trainers). Shaq's lowest out put PPG for a year was 12.9 in 2007.....Kaman's highest was 15.7 in 2007.

I just think Shaq for even 1 or 2 years is way better than Kaman for 4 or 5. I'd rather go with someone other than Kaman for the long term.....and we'll see who that might be...but RIGHT NOW, all I want is a championship...and I'm pretty sure LeBron wants that, too.

I'm not trying to pick on you bro, really. I'm just not willing to put all of my eggs in one Shasket (See that, I stayed on topic). I don't think it's wise to make this move now unless there's some big surprise for us in the draft. This instant gratification, gotta have it now mentality hurts a lot of Americans in the grand general scheme of life. I know some of you who want Shaq can say "Well, if he doesn't work out, he comes off our books and gives us room in 2010."

Well, two things to counter that philosophy. One, Shaq wants an extension. Say we decide to not give him one right away or not at all. Who's to say he doesn't pull a Rasheed Wallace (which is why you don't go after him either) and quit on the team. Shaq does have a strong personality. Then if Shaq quits, with no other alternative solution: Z is aged, Andy could be gone this season, J.J. has been limited, that leaves us with D-Block assuming that Joe also leaves. I'm sorry, but I'm not happy without having a solid backup plan.

I get the first part...but the bolded is just cleveland pessimistic mentality at it's best....Shaq knows damn well what he would be coming here for, and thats to win a championship in 2009. All the extension talk can happen after the season. Shaq is NOT a quitter like Sheed.
