New TV Series to watch

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Feel like Ozark jumped the shark a little bit.
at a certain point anyone in the world would have selected witness protection over continuing to serve the cartel.

Marty clearly was going to, but then the cartel lawyer walked in and he had no choice. Was a death sentence to take what was offered.

My issue with season 2 of Ozark is the same as season 1... I can’t stand Laua Linney, I’ve never liked her as an actress and don’t find her even remotely attractive. I know it’s small complaint, just hate her as that character.

Enjoying Banshee. Only 5 eps in, it's pretty unrealistic, gotta suspend your disbelief a bit. But very fun.

That's Banshee in a nutshell. It's dumb as shit but it's super fun and the fight scenes are great, which isn't common in television.

Also, bonus points for having great opening credits.

Jack Ryan was a fun show. Some definite plot holes, but action packed and not too many “dull” moments. Looking forward to season 2.

I agree, there are definitely a couple plot holes but the pace of the show makes up for them. The only problem I had with the show was the casting of Abbie Cornish as the girlfriend. To me it felt like they didn't cast her in person. She had no chemistry with John Krasinski and I didn't realize she was going to be the love interest in the first episode when they met. I actually thought she was going to be some annoying thorn in his side type character. She ends up being a fairly minor character and I hope they recast her for season 2 if they want to expand the role.

Except it was offered by a shady FBI agent and the cartels lawyer was present.

Granted I still have an episode left, but I found season two of Ozark to be a nice improvement over season one. It's still more than a little ridiculous, but I like some of the directions they've taken the plot and it just seemed to be a much easier watch than season one. I think they really addressed one of the main problems with the first season, which was that everyone was a scumbag, by giving Bateman's character a bit more depth and making him more likable. It was needed.

I also liked how it's his wife, not him, that's the one that's really embracing being a criminal. Makes it feel much less like a Breaking Bad re-tread, and that was really my issue with the first season. It felt too much like "been there, done that." The second season went in a different direction and I appreciate that.

Gonna find out how it ends in about an hour and a half, so we'll see if my comments above still hold true.

Just finished it myself. Liked the season overall, was hoping for a more significant finale, though.

Jack Ryan is a perfectly decent, bingeable counter terrorism show. It has several glaring plot holes and predictable plot twists and I didn't really like the girlfriend, but it's still a good watch. That said, I can't help but think that Fauda approached similar themes and situations and just did everything much better.

Iron Fist is solid so far. Fighting scenes are better.

Danny Rand character is not a great actor and it seems like the writers figured that out a bit.

Finally going to 10 episodes was a great idea. Story so far is more compact. 13 episodes has way too much fluff for all these Marvel Netflix shows. Hope that’s the case going forward.

I finished "The First" on Hulu last night. It's about going to Mars and it stars Sean Penn. It was visually very good. They seem to have the proper budget to have the CGI and sets for being in the future and in space.

The story though missed the mark. There is too much backstory and family drama. The story is very predictable and lacks mystery. I really wish they focused on the technical aspects of going to Mars and overcoming those hurdles.

Even with all that said, I will watch season 2 if/when its released. I think season 1 was a long set up that wasn't truely needed and the problems should solve themselves in season 2.

Still by far the worst marvel series on Netflix.

Season two of American Vandal was great. The crimes in this one were a nice escalation from season one while still staying true to the low brow humor nature of the original crime. It also does a nice job of showcasing how hard kids' lives have been made by social media in a much less preachy way than 13 Reasons Why.
