NFL Draft Day 2 (Rounds 2 and 3)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Absolutely. And I get all of that, but this is just an indictment on Carolina as is. If they think Matt Corral is the answer in year one... Yikes. The chances he's good enough to win 9+ games right away is what, a 2% chance? Less?
Also very fair point. Carolina is a mess. Lol.

It’s so crazy the fact that professional personnel guys would tie their livelihoods to Darnold/Corral etc. The fact that they wouldn’t pay a minimal price for Baker also says a lot about him though.

I’ll admit I may be prisoner of the moment right now, but I’m just highly disappointed we haven’t yet been able to close the door on the Baker era in Cleveland. I appreciate what he did, but the guy has never truly shown improvement IMO and I don’t think he will ever be more than an inconsistent QB who benefitted most when the offense was easy and spoon fed to him.

When he was on, he was awesome, but I have always had a belief that everything around him has to be perfect for him to hit his apex. That’s no shame, it’s most NFL QBs, but to give yourself a real shot at Super Bowls you need better and more consistent play from the position.

I had to watch the draft on delay. I never scream, i litteraly screamed in excitement at this pick. I think he is a good deal at end of 3rd. He is a slower big possession receiver who runs an incredible route and great hands and jumping ability.

I think with Watson, he will do well.

I believe this as well.

Would be really surprised if he’s unable to gain separation from DBs at the next level.

Not a guy you’re going to send over the top, but if he’s a consistent 0-15 yard target on a reliable basis, his upside is 100 catches and using the strong hands in the red zone for a nice TD number,

Really excited about this pick given the value.

We are stronger skillset wise towards RB than receiving right now, yet we have a QB who has always been in a heavy passing offense. I personally feel like if we do to much passing, it will hurt us more than help us.

We may have a top QB, but if we pass that much, we won't go 14-3. We don't have the WR room for that much passing. If you think we can win with Chubb getting 15ish runs a game, then why in the hell didn't we trade him or Hunt when we got Watson?

Also I never said we are taking it out of his hands, I said we are going to be way more balanced than he was in Houston. If Watson is able to legitimately audible at the line, I think he can switch between the run and the pass at the line...

On a serious note, Do you know if Watson ever really used the audible in Houston? I don't really recall him doing it all that much. I always felt their was a disconnect with Mayfield and Stef when it came to that since if Mayfield didn't like the call, he wasn't really able to modify it. I am hoping with Watson, Stef calls the set and Watson calls whether they use the run/screen/pass from that set reading the defense. If we can do that, I think this offense is top 5 and it will be the proper mix of pass-run based off of opponents.

I think you’re going to realize pretty quickly that an elite quarterback lifts his receivers and that any concerns you have about this group of receivers not being as good as this group of running backs is very overblown.

It’s why the Packers weren’t freaking out about losing Adams. Yes, he’s a great player, but the Packers have performed perfectly fine in the games he’s missed over the years due to injury.

It’s why Watson still managed to have the best year of his career *after* they traded Hopkins away.

It’s all about the quarterback. The Browns have a great one now and they’re going to be passing a lot more because passing is way more valuable than running, even elite running.

Moved.

Love the David Bell pick.

I feel like the David Bells of the world are the type of receivers that have the best chance of surprising people with their productivity at the next level. May not be the most explosive guy in the world but his skillset seems like it would translate fairly well to the NFL. Not all receivers with insane speed that gets them absurd levels of separation in college will be able to translate that to the pros.

A more athletic Jarvis is, wait for it….

Chris Godwin or Keenan Allen.

Chris Godwin is an elite athlete at the position and not even remotely comparable to Allen, Bell, or Landry.

Allen, coincidentally, is my comp for Bell and has been the entire process. I’d be shocked if Bell ends up that good, but his game is similar.

Good picks by AB. I like what he has done. Skill positions on Day 2/3. Now get some big uglies to develop line depth

Chris Godwin had a RAS over 9.

Keenan Allen never ran.

Jarvis’ RAS was .03, IIRC.

You keep Felton and DEJ around because Hunt will be gone next year, so you already have your RB depth on the roster… Heck, DEJ could even be gone so Felton isn’t going anywhere, especially not with how he produced his rookie season and with his versatility..

Grant essentially signed a one year deal so the hope is Felton can develop into a viable return option this year..

I thought it was pretty obvious Keenan Allen and Godwin weren’t in the same tier athletically but apparently I should have spelled that out.

Just simply giving examples of similar players with better athletic profiles than Jarvis.

Agreed with the indictment on Carolina part. My guess was that Tepper's ego got in the way and that he was hell bent on winning the trade by bending Berry over and making us eat almost all of the salary. If push comes to shove and we end up having to release Baker, then the joke is on us, but it didn't sound like Carolina was our only trade option.

Love the David Bell pick.

Jarvis has had clear success in his career, and Bell is actually a much better athlete in comparison.

Jarvis ran a 4.77 40 at the combine. Bell ran a 4.65. Jarvis had a 28.5 Vert, Bell a respectable 33.

Bell isnt going to blow you away with his SPARQ numbers, he is an average athlete at best for a NFL receiver. (obviously 4.65 is fast as hell for a normal human, lol)....but he has some of the best hands and route running...to give an idea, Hopkins ran a 4.57, not blazing, Cooper Cupp 4.62. DeVante Adams, 4.56, Allen Robinson, 4.6, Tyler Boyd, 4.58.

Bell is a physical receiver with ridiculously strong hands. An accurate QB will love that and his frame alone gets him open. Watson is the perfect QB for Bell. But I am guessing AB already knows that, and yes i am very Bias, not denying that, but you would be too if you were me, lol
