And you can argue that Alex Smith would be the clear best Qb of that group. What can he do with Josh Gordon, Myles Garrett, these draft picks, and this cap space? We can't build a better offense around Alex Smith than Mike Mularkey has around Mariota. He' better than Bortles, Tyrod, Flacco. I'd argue that there are bigger threats in the AFC than the teams listed without Brady and Ben. OAK, DEN, LAC, HOU, IND are right on par wit those other teams.
Well yeah. But this is assuming that Brady rode off into the sunset last year (as did Belichick), and Roethlisberger also did as well. This is assuming that the injuries to Luck, Watson all remained. This is also pre-Gruden Raiders.
But for some reason the AFC instantly becomes more of an intriguing conference and parity sort of returns.
As bizarre as this sounds? I think No. 7, not his team were directly responsible for the Browns losing to them.
I can remember the 1999-2003 Browns consistently playing them well and actually beating them because the Steelers didn't have an "closer" to put them away.
No. 7 is their Mariano Riverea. If the game is tied 20-20, 2 minute warning in Cleveland? All he has to do is drive the team down to the 35 and the game is over. I've seen that happen with him quite often. Now the 2015-17 BROWNS are not beating them, but their predecessors likely do.
