Not even I have a problem with Agbaji as a throw in on the Mitchell trade

I was supposed to write this before but I actually forgot it multiple times. Will Hardy didn't play Agbaji earlier because he was playing too sloppy. He kept getting beat in practises (simple movement issues that happen when some players come from college). Hardy was afraid that throwing Agbaji to the game would just crush his confidence. So all this time Agbaji wasn't playing he was practising all this simple stuff with the training stuff and in G-league. It took its time but now he is not getting crushed there and is actually having impact.

Agbaji was surprised by his trade before the season. He said he was close to moving into a place in Ohio before he got the news.
“It really did catch me off guard,” Agbaji said. “I was about to move into my place in Cleveland, and then I got the news that I was traded here. It switched up pretty fast, it came out of nowhere.”
...
The Jazz are seen as a team that could be active at this years trade deadline. Despite this, some reports say that the Jazz have three pieces that they really want to keep around. Lauri Markkanen, Walker Kessler, and Ochai Agbaji.

Still very inconsistent game-to-game as you might expect for a rook but since the new year he's 23/45 on 3's for 51%.

45 attempts in like 55 games

That's a made shot less than every other game

since the new year not the whole season

he has over 5 3 point attempts per 36 minutes played

Still the same rate over the course of the year. He's made like 11 threes in the last 17 games

If the argument is he's just not getting enough minutes, the question is "why".

5 per 36 isn't zero gravity but it's essentially just okoro

Apparently the Jazz training staff are ironing out some bad habbits. Based on production this year they know what they are doing wuth Ochai.

Utah has a ton of guards in their rotation, 7 to be exact. Pretty much all of them are getting less minutes than they got with their previous team or in previous seasons with the Jazz. The player that is getting more minutes this season is Clarkson. Beasley and Conley are getting about the same as they got last season but for Beasley it's 6-7 minutes less than the peak of the minutes he was getting in Minnesota. Conley minutes have gone down with age. All 3 of those guys are on the trading block. Sexton, THT, and NAW are all getting significantly less minutes. OA getting 13 minutes a game just seems like part of the plan until they can clear some of their guard depth out.

He’s looking better. I’ll eat some crow. But it doesn’t sound or look like he was a finished product.

This guy is the next Harrison Barnes.

Utah has announced that Lauri, Kessler, and Agbaji are all off limits for trading. Not surprised by the first two but a bit surprised about Agbaji, they must see something in him

They are already letting Agbaji finish games because of his defense. Agbaji had 18ppg in his last year of college while shooting 40% from 3. They have said that Agbaji is the most athletic player in Jazz so what he has is good defense, knows how to shoot and he is athletic. As long as you trust in your managements abilities to develop players then he is a keeper.
