Official declaring for NBA thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Throw away being a top 3 pick, show the same flaws again next year and fall behind all of these big time freshman coming in. Smart decision.

What exactly will an NBA lockout consist of? Is it just about player wages or are there a lot more things that are going to be changed? I think the draft is probably the best out of the 3 major spots, and the season has the perfect amount of games, same with the playoffs. I think FA is still pretty good, teams have RFA, and bird rights to try and keep players. I only thing I can think of is, player salaries and maybe a franchise tag?

Report: Kemba Walker going pro

STORRS, Conn. -- Connecticut has called a news conference for Tuesday with junior guard Kemba Walker to reportedly announce his intention to enter the NBA draft.

Walker
Walker, who led UConn to its third national championship, is projected as a first-round NBA draft pick and coach Jim Calhoun has said he has advised Walker to forgo his senior season.

The Hartford Courant reported Monday that Walker had played his final collegiate game, citing an unnamed source.

Walker averaged almost 24 points and five assists per game in leading UConn to a 32-9 record, including an 11-0 run through the postseason. He accounted for 45 percent of his team's points.

But with an NBA lockout looming, Walker had left his options open.

"It would be a lot of fun if I came back," he said last week. "These guys are my brothers and I love them. So, if I have an opportunity to come back, it would be special."

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.

Here's a bit of a surprise:

Wow. With Barnes & Jones likely staying now, you have to wonder the following:

If the guy(s) we like the most aren't there at 8 or so w/ the Clippers pick, do we dangle it to a contender or near contender for their '12 1st rd pick + others?

Granted, it won't be in the lottery, but it's looking like it will be an even deeper draft than originally thought.

Not saying I would do it per se, but something to consider perhaps?

Someone needs to tell these guys staying in that next year's draft is loaded and this one blows. Not only will it save them from destroying their draft stock, it'll help our Clippers pick from being more than just scraps. Argh.

While I like that logic, look at the other teams perspective. They know 2012 is a stronger draft and will hold on to their later pick.

All that matters is that the team lands Kyrie. As long as they do that, they will leave draft night with an A+ grade regardless of who their 2nd lotto pick is.

By the way, if Derrick Williams doesn't declare, then people can start panicking.

With another player going back to college...it's looking more and more like we are going to get someone like Kanter with our Clippers pick...

I understand that, but my thinking is that if we can find a team that's near contention and think they've found a piece to put them over the top at that spot (unlikely, I know), they may be willing, in order to get to contention that much quicker.

I think the 2012 draft is going to be crap too because they are going to change the rules to eliminate freshman eligibility.

It isn't a bad idea IF the draft age changes to 20.

Kanter is one of the top 4 or 5 players in this draft no doubt. I don't see the logic here...
