Its a new era of Michigan football where we are 4-0 and we have a ton of 1 loss teams in front of us

in the old days we would be sitting up at #5 right now...

not saying we deserve that but man last year certainly threw us for a loop

Michigan is doin' the damn thing .... I think more than anything, you'd want them just a make it to a couple of bowl games for the next couple years and then back into serious contention .....

football is better when Notre Dame and Michigan are good

I think I want more than a couple of bowl games the next few YEARS.... We expect to be in the national title hunt within the next few YEARS... bowl game was this years goal

i really dont think the win against notre dame was as impressive as some people (michigan fans) made it out to be 4 wins, 2 against western and east michigan and a 3 point win against Indiana that doesn't impress me from a football standpoint at all. and thats not the buckeye in me talking thats just the reality...

and what exactly has LSU done to deserve that lofty #4 ranking???

barely beat a washington team that got raked by Stanford this week and need 4 downs to stop Miss State on the 2 inch line from being upset

My point wasnt that we DESERVE to be ranked up there at #5... in fact if you look at my post I say that exact thing

What I am trying to say is that the National perception of Michigan has dropped quite a bit since our 3-9 season last year... In years past if Michigan were to start out 4-0 and have a QB that the media loves like Forcier we would no doubt be ranked in the top 10 especially with all of these one loss teams in front of us

That was the only point I was making... again not saying we are a top 10 team or that I am upset with our ranking...merely talking about the national outlook on Michigan right now vs what it used to be

now the win vs ND was a quality win no matter what you OSU fans want to say... that ND offense when 100% is pretty deadly... shame cause I would have loved to see them go up against USC with Floyd and everyone at full strength but oh well

I guess the Big Ten needs to start goin cupcake with thier out of conference schedule so we can be as 'dominate' as the SEC. Cant wait until week 6 when the computer sets these fools straight.

^Really? It was you fools who have been set straight and exposed the past 4 years and have been bumped down to the ranks of the ACC.

The SEC has 3 of the last Championships won by 2 different teams, the SEC has been constantly good, the teams have a proven record of being neck and neck, thus SEC teams are more deserving.

Also, a few years ago when osu opened up with Washington, people were quick to defend this because "it was picked years and years ago." Apparently that same sentiment doesn't apply when LSU has to face them 2 years later, when they are now capable of beating a program that is a perennial top 5 program in the country.

James regardless you cant hate on OSU's non conference schedule... they have been scheduling some tough opponents

LSU just hasnt impressed me in general and it has nothing to do with thier schedule... Miss St is in conference and while Washington was out of conference they still looked unimpressive

now I say this not saying they are better or not better than OSU im just saying they are not all that impressive in general...

Once again, until your teams start winning big games, and sorry, Notre Dame is nothing more then a name, they are nothing to hold your head high over...the lil guys of the Big 10 will get stomped in games that matter.

SEC wins the games that are scheduled and wins a fair amount of the Bowl Games they get into as well.

Sure James Washington is lookin good with the new coach, but when LSU added them to the schedule, it was before they had the new coach and they were on a 14 game losing streak. Im sure Tressel would love to open the season in the swamp or @ LSU but the chicken shits down there wont schedule that. OSU has a history of scheduling at least 1 out of conference game against an elite team. when miami and FSU were dominate, they were on OSU's schedule, when Texas was winning championships, they were on OSU's schedule, USC has been on thier schedule, just the chicken shits in the SEC are scared to do it.

I give Georgia props at least for playing a good team out of conference, but LSU, Ol Miss, FU, Alabama, havent played no one. Yet they get ranked all in the top 5, its ridiculous. The SEC is smart though, they know since it comes down to voting, then its all politics, so instead of trying to make thier case on the field, they hire a PR team and start politicing for heismans, and #1 rankings long before september hits.

I like how Tressel and Carrol are like fk it, we'll make our case on the field. Michigan (as much as i hate them) has balls too, and always schedule strong out of conference. Penn State aint skerd to do it, face it, Pac 10, Big 10, ACC, Big 12, they'll all do it, and they do, while LSU, Alabama, Florida, all draw straws to see who gets to schedule charleston southern.

Did you buy any chance check PSU out of conference schedule this year? It was a joke to say the least and they clearly weren't prepared for Iowa.

so you are saying that joe pa is afraid to schedule out of conference, or that this year they didnt? im confused what argument you are trying to make. The SEC schedules weak every year, the other 5 BCS conferences schedule strong every year. Its a fact. You can always find an exception or two, but the rule remains the same.

There are 11 undefeated teams ranked this week. the top 4 (3 from the SEC) have yet to chalk up a quality win. of the remaining 7, most have beaten ranked opponents. Ohio State could have easily scheduled charleston southern instead of USC, run up the score, hired a PR team, and you would think Pryor is the next coming of tim tebow.

I was speaking of this year only. They usually have a legit schedule.
