Open Discussion (Cavs + related issues)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I know it’s early but I’m already worried, we added more depth but are we really better than last year?

Let’s break it down:
• Wade looks done, Rose is injury prone, Green and Shumpert are retards, Frye, Korver and Calderon are old and can only shoot.
• Cedi and Zizic are young I don’t trust Lue to play them meaningful minutes to find out if they could help anyways
• IT isn’t back until January and we don’t know what he’ll be like when he returns and who knows if his offensive impact will translate sharing the floor with Lebron and he’s a bigger defensive liability than Kyrie.
• No matter what the numbers say, Love isn’t big impact player IMO. He can’t keep up with anyone on GS besides their centers but he’s too short to guard that position to offer paint protection, which will be crucial if IT is on the floor.
• So that leaves Lebron, Crowder, and JR (somehwhat) that can have a positive impact on both ends of the floor the most on anyone on our team.

Idk about you guys but I’m watching the Grizzlies vs Warriors game, Id trade Love for Gasol in a heartbeat. He’s the definition of impact player. I know he’s older but he’s just a better player on both ends of the floor. He’s better in the post, just as good a passer, and at not much difference in shooting at this point (Gasol seemed like he really improved his 3pt shot last couple years) and it’s not like Love is a knockdown shooter himself...he’s above average for a big at best. Gasol sets good screens and always boxes out and communicates on the floor. Gasol might be a tad slower but he makes up for it in size and length and I’d say he has better handles too.
Whatever slight (if any) offensive impact some will argue Love has<<<<the defensive impact Gasol has. And he always gives Warriors problems...which are the kind of guys we need.

Again I know it’s early and we need a healthy IT to gauge where we are as a team but so far it looks like we only got a bit better on defense while being noticibly less potent on offense this year.

All of the above was always obvious, people were just very giddy during the off season. I mean, Wade has been declining for years, Zizic and Cedi are rookies, and Rose, Green, Calderon, and Korver are who they are...did people think they were going to magically transform into totally different players? Love is a very good player but it has been clear for years that he is not second-best-player-on-a-championship-team good. We all knew that IT was injured. And Crowder is an excellent role player but still a role player.

With all that said, we have added a lot of depth even though our top-of-the-roster talent has taken a hit, so with good coaching and some injury luck we should take the East. But I just don't see it as a championship roster unless something changes.

The struggles we'll see over the 1st few months are predictable.

We're missing our scoring point guard. With no Thomas on the court, we're lacking much needed shooting - consistent buckets.

Think about it. Kyrie forced his way out and the key scoring piece we received in return isn't available yet. If Kyrie was still on the roster but not ready to play until December/January, we'd be experiencing similar struggles.

Regardless of whether Wade is finding his role. Regardless of whether Shump is being Shump. Regardless of any of that. We'll be just average to good but not great without Thomas.

I feel like this already happened one season. Except we didn't struggle and actually coped okay

I also wonder why JR and Shump have been given greater ball handling/playmaking duties. These guys aren't good decision makers

Solving some of our problems:

(1) Start JR in Rose's place. It lets Wade get his token start, and it lets JR keep being the badass he's been ever since he got here.

(2) Trade Shumpert for ANYTHING. I mean, seriously, this guy is trash and Lue clearly doesn't get it. Distributing Shumpert's minutes among other players would clean up the rotations immensely.

(3) Rose is first off the bench for Wade, and then let Wade run the 2nd unit. Bring Rose in as soon as the starters lose steam.

(4) Get Frye back in the lineup. Give him half of Shumpert's minutes. We need his shooting and spacing. Frye + Korver can accomplish many of the same things that JR + Korver accomplishes on the offensive end for the 2nd unit.

(5) Lue: use your goddamn timeouts.

We will play the nets in the first round of the playoffs

2nd seed vs 7th seed

Shump + Cavs 2018 1st Rounder for Bledsoe Please.

I don't understand the Bledsoe love he isn't good. He stat padded on a bad team the last 2 years and is a tremendously overrated defender. He makes splash plays but doesn't shut the other guy down. Not good at creating for others. I just don't see the point in trading for Bledsoe other then he has same agent as LeBron which isn't a reason to trade for someone. Hes not a good player. Not to mention he's very fragile.

We had Delly when Kyrie was out. This year, Rose is our Delly, and he's out too.

Way too early to panic.

Jr Smith, Crowder, Lebron, TT, Love . position less basketball with versatility on the defensive end.

I would actually include Frye and Shump in the rotation. . holding them out does nothing for their trade value and these guys should be shopped at mid season.

Well ,it's not rocket science here..we all knew Lue was going to have problems with his rotations.
But, how long does it take to know you need to have a shooter in that lineup ..period?
And this is the time to get some of the other younger guys some playing time ..
