But, what about my UNDEFEATED UCLA BRUINS checking in with that badass 74 schedule ?... :chuckles:

Wow, how sad is the Pac 10?

 The pac 10 has the best team in the country.. Plus, they also have USC

Meaning we should be ranked higher...we should have fallen out of the top 5 for losing to Texas that was BS...considering they are better then USC and we barely missed beating them..

The media hates OSU and especially Tressel ball. Why? We win ugly. Until Tressel realizes that if we're not going to be flashy (which I don' mind) we have to at least win by a large margin occassionally (which I do mind, and thumping IU doesn't count) or we will continue to be ranked lower than we should in the polls. JT's conservatism puts OSU in a situation where they can not lose a game and have any chance at playing in the title game.

the last couple of games showed that we can be a flashy team, it will be intresting to see if we will do that against michigan.

oh are schedule will drop after this week.

OSU now has the second toughest schedule, ND the 22nd. Those damn domers and their cupcakes. :chuckles:

such bullshit. what now mac the truth.

They're saying on The Fan that OSU is #1 in strength of schedule and ND is a whopping 56 spots lower at #57. I have no idea where they're getting that from, as the Sagarin (in the link above) has them at #2 and #22 respectively, but if they say it on The Fan it must be true! ;)

Neutered Dame’s schedule versus Ohio State’s slate…And another thing: The sportswriters (yeah, same AP guys who got us on that pre-season poll stuff) are so anxious to create the next Rudy story that they will do almost anything to make Notre Dame back into the legend that they haven’t been for two decades or more.

Think about this concerted effort. First, the Domers tried to bring class and integrity back to South Bend (those are code words for “we’ve been losing too much and our recruiting sucks”). So they hired George O’Leary, except George lied on his resume so they fired him a couple days later. They hired Ty Willingham next, pronounced him god-like – after he won his first eight games – and then fired him a couple season later when he couldn’t win many more than that. All right, so much for the attempt at class and integrity.

Thus (switching gears in the program), for this season, they decided to go for a guy who could re-establish the winning tradition and pride at Notre Dame. Unfortunately, Urban Meyer turned them down so they went with yet another back-up choice: Charlie Weis.

Then Charlie goes 9-2 against a schedule that even a Minnesota could be 9-2 with. Once more, the god-like pronouncements. Until you realize – Weis’ best “victory” was a close loss to USC. Hmmm…

Let’s do more than the usual legend-licking pundits and actually look at that record: The anticipated tough games for the Irish were Pitt, Michigan, Purdue, SoCal, Tennessee and Stanford. Well, Pitt has it’s worst team in memory (and is 5-6 with big wins against Youngstown State and hapless squads like Syracuse and Connecticut). Michigan is 7-4 and struggling to stay in the Top 25. Purdue is ninth in the Big Ten, posting a six-game losing streak. Tennessee was 4-6 after losing to Vanderbilt. In fact, Notre Dame’s opponents’ overall record is 57-59 despite USC’s 11-0 mark thrown in; and with the obvious assist of some of this year’s doormats like Navy, Syracuse and Washington.

Now, tell me again why Notre Dame is ranked ahead of OSU and a shoe-in for the Fiesta Bowl?

Notre Dame’s opponents’ overall record is 57-59, but if you look at the records of just the teams they've beaten, it's a meager 41-53.

you cant blame notre dame though. they didnt know that these teams would suck.

i dont think we here are blaming notre dame as much as we are blaming the people who rate them higher than osu. it really is a shame.

who do they have that is better then osu:

the only position that comes out is quaterback, but than again thats a stretch. troy can do everything quinn can but he can also run with the ball.

i really want to see this matchup.

Ohio State fans are crying? For what?

You have a schedule, play it. I dont understand how Ohio State fans are crying because they lost two games, one later than Notre Dames last lost. Maybe that's the reason why? If you lose games, generally, you fall in the rankings. Ohio State has nobody to blame but themselves.

Nobody had Tenn at the record they have this year, nobody thought Michigan would flop. MSU was supposed to be a good team this year, USC is the best team in the Nation. Notre Dame didnt have a great schedule because of other teams, but it was certainly a good effort schedule coming into the season.

And as for players, Notre Dame is better than Ohio State BY FAR on offense.

Quinn is MUCH better than Troy. Troy is an athlete/RB at QB, not a very good passer. Quinn is probably the most talented QB in the nation, many people put him about Lienart. Quinn almost doubles every stat Smith has. He has completed more passes than Smith has attempted. So to say that Quinn being better than Smith is a stretch is laughable at best..

Ill take Walker over Pittman, bigger, stronger and faster. But both are good for each offense so this is really a wash.

Two different style WRs, but sets are good, but with a passing offense, Id much rather have Jeff Samardzija and Stovall.

Bottom line is, you take OSUs two top WRs and put their stats together, you dont even break the production that Samardzija has. 13 TDs combined for Holmes and Ginn equal Samardzija's season total.

Notre Dame's #2 WR is more productive than OSUs #1 WR in Holmes. Only one yard less PR, more yards than Holmes and the same amount of TDs..

The defense no doubt goes to OSU, but that defense can be scored on. A weak Michigan offense put up 20+, Texas had their way and Notre Dame is much more rounded offense.

I am looking foward to this match up, I already have tickets to the Fiesta bowl and this would be amazing if these two teams played. I really want to see how it would turn out.

Ohio States great defense vs Notre Dames great offense. It will be interesting to say the least.

im not saying that quinn is not a better passer, but quinn by no means is anywhere close to the runner that t. smith is. their is a 5-1 ration their and smith hasnt even played the whole year.

if you look at the qb ratings quinn is 6 and smith is 8. of course quinns numbers are going to be greater because notre dame throws more and quinn has been the starter since day one.

lets go to running backs. its not a wash and you saying that is laughable at best is laughable at best. pittman is 12th in the country and your stronger faster running back is 43. yes you guys do throw the ball more but look at the teams you have played against as well.

recievers this can be discused at length, yes your guys have more numbers but at the same time you guys have thrown the ball a lot more than osu has. Then again anyone can get open against defenses dame has played against.

you guys really played tough competition for the last 5 weeks of the season didnt you.

you points were valid until you brought up the osu defense. the reason michigan scored 20+ points was because of turnovers and because its michigan. texas had its way for 1 quater and the last drive. frankly osu would be in the championship game if hamby doesnt drop the wide open pass.

oh notre dame lost a week after osu. notre dame lost to usc and michigan fucking state. give me a fucking break. the buckeyes lost to texas and penn state the #2 and #3/4 ranked teams in the nation by a combined point total of 10 points.

michigan state is 5-6 yet notre dame is ranked higher. that is were we have our beef. fucking joke.

The big beef OSU fans have is that when ND lost to USC they did not drop in the polls. That is almost unheard of. Sure, USC is #1 and ND just barely lost, but OSU just barely lost to the #2 team and dropped 9 spots. This has nothing to do with the quality of OSU vs ND. It has everything to do with the media having a hard on for ND. So yes, OSU has a legitimate gripe. Not with ND, but with the media.

Concerning which offense is better, statistics aren't everything, especially considering the schedules of the teams involved.

That's awesome that you have tics, btw. I hope for your sake that ND actually plays in the Fiesta. From what I'm hearing they're all but a lock for the game if they win tonight.
