The best part of my night was being at this party in Akron seeing 35 people watching the game and the dismay in their faces when Smith was sacked. The look on their face was priceless. You seriously thought the world ended tonight...loved it.
But anyways......there are things to be positive about..
One---There isnt a single team that will go undefeated this year. Not even USC...
Two---Be happy that you lost NOW instead of later. OSU will still be in good shape to get to one of the three major bowl games if the run the table. Thats a big IF.
Three--You wont have to face Young, or any QB near his talent level to confuse to the Buckeye D. Nobody is gonna stop this kid, and the Bucks have a good D and they will bouce back.
Dont get your panties in a bunch Buckeye fans...all is not lost.
OMFing GOD!!!!! I agree with A Mac on an OSU topic!
He's right, all is not lost. The loss coming early is huge. And I don't expect us to drop from the top 10. The close score alone will tell you it was tight, but anyone who watched that game knows that Texas was not clearly better if at all. They won the game, but OSU showed they are the same caliber of team. If we win out, and no one else is undefeated, then we're at least a top 3 team. All we need is to be top 2 to make it to the dance. And beside all of that, there is always the big ten. If you win the big ten you had a great year, I don't care how you slice. Now we just have that little problem of winning out to take care of...
Concerning the game, you can't pin this on anyone player or play. No game ever comes down to one play. Yeah, we missed several opportunities where had we taken care of business we'd probably of won. Guess what? I saw plenty of plays where texas missed opportunities too. I counted at least three times a texas defender got hit in the hands with the ball and didn't get the pick. You don't think that would of changed the game any?
The plays you all are talking about are just the ones that stand out for being particularly ugly and untimely, but the game doesn't come down to one play and kids are not always going to make the play. Yeah, Hamby dropped the ball. Kids are going to drop balls. What about all the incompletions that the qbs had? I remember at least one where zwick overthrew the receiver that would of been 6. I don't hear you all talking about that b/c you know that qbs aren't going to complete every pass. Well guess what? Recievers aren't going to catch every pass either! Stop whining about individual plays!
And I don't blame tressel for going with Zwick. It's easy in hindsight to say he fucked up with Zwick since he turned it over, but Justin's passes were actually much more crisp in this game than Troy's. I'm a Troy Smith fan all the way, but he was still knocking the rust off in that game. When we got the ball with 2 min left I said to myself that even though Smith is the better qb for this team through the season, we should go with zwick. He's been more sharp today, and gives us the best chance to move the ball down the field quickly.
