Politics Forum is Open and Operational To Invites

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Guys this is getting a little crazy. There's like 10 political threads now on a basketball forum and they're all going to updated as often as actual basketball content.
The Nets just won and we lost badly yesterday to dinosaur Aldridge and the band of misfit toys

Basketball is now dead to me. Time to hop aboard the politics express!!!

It's easier to find anther place to discuss politics than it is to find a Cavs site of this quality.

I was actually thinking about this the other day. I don't participate much in the political threads besides occasional lurking so I was trying to figure out why people were really passionate about having the political stuff here as opposed to finding another, likely much more active place to talk politics

I think it's the community. Compared to some of the guys who've been here for over a decade I've only even been here for 3 years but I still feel like a part of the community. There are a lot of people on here I'd love to actually meet off the site and actually have met Keys. It's basically like saying talk with a bunch of strangers or talk with friends. That's how I see it at least maybe others just really think this is the pinnacle of political discussion

Those stupid bastards. They can shove their moxie up Baker Mayfield's ass.

I swear about four teams are not going to win 20 games this year. This blatant mass tanking is an embarrassment.

I like the community too and I like basketball, which is what the site is intended for. It's been turning into Real Politics for awhile and I'm not into that.

My main reason for coming here was the Browns lol

Yeah, I'm starting to agree with your point more now.

When it was just one or two huge threads before, it wasn't a big deal at all.

But if a handful of the most active threads on this site going forward are political threads, that is going to be a little annoying for people that aren't interested.

Exactly.

I think this is something that needs more discussion. When I click on new posts, I and many others don't want to see a fucking page full of political threads. I understand the section is brand new, being tested, and thus many threads are being created. So perhaps it is just a one time thing. I guess we'll see how it unfolds.

It'd be like if someone created individual threads for all the Indians, Browns and OSU players & coaches and they were updated constantly. (Instead of what we have now which is essentially a couple mega threads for each team...like we used to have for politics). That would be pretty annoying for people that didn't care about one of those teams. To your point, this is RealCavsFans.

Non-Cavs related topics have always had mega threads. Other sports teams, music, movies, politics, video games, books, you name it.

Not trying to rain on anyone's parade or anything, but I think everyone probably gets the point.

One step further, is not only neutral stuff that you just don't feel strongly about, it's politics, which traditionally you don't talk about at the dinner table because it's incendiary and divisive and people can't help but get involved or be incendiary or divisive.

It's like fifty percent of the board now. Now you you can only sit at the dinner table if you agree to have iit in your face all the time

There have been multiple political threads forever. Trump, Terrorism, BLM, Feminism, Election Threads, Foreign Policy, Bias in Media., etc.

Politics spans everything from current events to nuanced policy talk. It requires more precision because, frankly, sports is a pretty closed-system focusing on a handful of things.

In any event, don't want to be a dick, but this thread is for signing up for invites which has a limited time-frame. I don't want it cluttered with too much else because I have to go through this thing and write down names later.

Post deleted at Ben's request. Sorry to complain within the context of the sign-up thread.

We can't please everyone and frankly, I'm done trying. This thread is about signing up for the politics forum. Please refrain from anything else.

Agreed. I'm getting extremely annoyed having to see multiple threads about politics interspersed with basketball threads.

Hey man I don’t know if it’s the new forum itself you don’t like or if you’re seeing political
stuff in the basketball section, but if it’s the latter just message me and I’ll take care of it. I will be very proactive about keeping alll political stuff away from every other part of the forum besides the one designed for it. If you see anything report it or PM
me and I will shut it down. I’ll even give you my phone number to text me if that helps.

The whole goal is to let people that want to talk political do so in their own little world without the constant disruption that has been caused by the off-topic threads just exploding randomly at 2 PM and both sides reporting each other 12 times for posts that have no business being reported because getting snippy with each other over politics isn’t really a forum rule..lol

If that’s not the issue, we’ll thats about my pay grade lol but seriously, we have too much good stuff going on elsewhere to let the politics force you off the board. Just ignore 95% of it like I do. Should even be easier to ignore now, IMO.
