Is there a way one can hire a coach while keeping kitchens, gregg? I think that would be an intriguing option

Bruce Arians might keep Freddie on staff.

He’d likely bring Pagano to replace Gregg though.

It's only two games, but I like what I've seen so far out of Williams and Kitchens. The whole team is playing with a lot more discipline, fewer penalties, fewer mistakes. He has them playing somewhere close to where their talent should take them.

As for Kitchens, I had some problems with him being "too cute" with some of the trick plays. 3rd and two, I'm not crazy about the trick play attempt, and I really didn't like the HB pass that went for the interception. Just too much. The other thing I wasn't crazy about was how conservative we got towards the end, I'd rather stay more aggressive no matter what.

But on the good side for Kitchens I really liked how he always gave Baker a solid checkdown option and he had Baker coached up well regarding when to hit that option. I liked some of the unusual 3 back sets and although some of the option plays didn't work all that well I think they helped loosen things up for some of the big gain runs that came later. The Falcon defense had a whole lot of new looks to digest and I think Kitchens' schemes had them thinking which helped us to break some of our bigger plays out of more conventional looks. The screen pass (look downfield, fake a screen left, throw a screen right) was masterful in concept and execution. Baker seems extremely comfortable with the way Kitchens runs things.

I'd be happy to see these guys have enough success that they at least force themselves into consideration as a viable option moving forward, even if we go a different way. Those are the good kinds of problems to have.

Maybe a guy like Riley or another college coach who doesn’t have NFL ties? Something tells me Riley would want the ability to pick his own staff.

This leads to a bigger question. What does Gregg have to do to keep the job outright? I think we can chalk up the Panthers and Texans as losses. That leaves two games against the Bengals, Ravens, and Broncos.

I think they have to win at least three of those, which is completely doable, for Gregg to have a chance. Even then it might be tough. Either way it’d start the conversation.

You’d be able to keep kitchens, but Gregg is effectively the head coach now. It’s unheard of to bring that guy back without becoming the hc

Yeah I'm very mixed.

I like Gregg, I'm unsure if he's a HC though.

But...to sound like a broken record? he's my ideal DC. He clearly wants to be a Buddy Ryan clone and I love that type of defense.

There's two NFL teams my dad would regale me with stories about growing up.

The 85 Bears and the 80's Browns.

Thoughts on John Harbaugh? He’s got his Ohio roots. He also will likely be coveted by multiple teams.

Can’t imagine that he wouldn’t be at or near the top of the list.

Born in Toledo. Went to Miami (OH). Super Bowl champ. From the Andy Reid coaching tree. Checks off a lot of boxes.

Fast forward a week and the same scenario has arrived. Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaughacknowledged that he grew up a fan of the Browns as well.

“My mom is from Cleveland and went to Shaw High School over there in East Cleveland. My dad is from Crestline, Ohio, which is about hour and a half south of there, and they met at Bowling Green State University. All of our family on my mom’s side is from Cleveland, and all of my family on my dad’s side is Browns fans. We all grew up Browns fans. I was a (former Browns RB) Leroy Kelly era, (former Browns QB) Bill Nelsen and just great memories, but I never went to a Browns game and never had tickets or anything like that to go to a real game," Harbaugh said Wednesday.

I am not too worried about Kitchens since its what his 3rd NFL game including preseason that he has ever called. I didnt see a ton of mistakes outside of the trick play in the play calling. I am hoping whoever the head coach is next season, we keep him as the OC

God bless Williams/Kitchens for making this job look even better to prospective candidates.

Hot take: This will be the most attractive HC opening in the NFL and the Browns will have their pick of the litter

If Green Bay fires McCarthy, does that become the new number 1 attractive spot?
