I think there are some decent big men who can shoot that might be able to be had (in no order):

1. Mehmet Okur- The tallest shooter on this list. He's hitting 45% of his threes and makes about 10 million this year and next. The downside is that he's definitely different from Utah's other bigs. Plus he's white, which, like it or not, seems to be emphasized in the SLC.

2. Peja Stojakovic - Peja makes almost exactly as much as Okur, but is injury prone, and wasn't very clutch in "Sacramende". But he's shooting 41.5% form 3s

3. Ryan Gomes - A bit short for a PF (6'7") and has a longer, but more reasonable contract (like $5 mil, per year for 4 or 5 years). His upside isn't great, but he's a role player, and may be more willing to take the abbreviate minutes.

4. Troy Murphy - Makes 11 and 12 million this year and next, plus his numbers are down this year. Possibly the costliest player on this list

5. Andres Nocioni - has a 4 year deal worth about 7.5 million, but has made some key shots in his career, especially for the Argentinian national team. Also may be the best defender of this bunch.

What's the opinion? Who else could be on this list?

I think Jamison and David West need to be on that list at #1 and #2.

I don't think Okur is available. He's on a good, short contract.

I really think Jamison is going to be a Cavalier. There were rumors we tried for him last year...Abe Pollian wanted to keep the big-3 together..he believed in them.

Now...it's apparent the big-3 in Washington won't work. Abe has passed away..new ownership will want to get out of the tax next year, Blatche is starting to come into his own as a starting 4, Arenas is immovable. They're 7-13 and if they keep this up they may be out of the EASTERN CONFERENCE playoff race by February.

Jamison is the guy I'm looking at. I watch Wizards games now to root against them every night. (I also root against the Hornets..I like David West a lot too).

Yeah, Jamison needs to be on this list. I don't know if David West qualifies, simply because he's not a three-point shooter. But West is certainly better all-around than any of the guys listed above.

Being able to stretch the floor doesn't just mean you can hit from downtown. David West qualifies as a "stretch four."

edit: and agreed wrt Jamison and West, they are easily #1 and #2.

Ehh, he's still got good range out to 20 feet.

I think just adding somebody who can space the floor is enough, doesn't necessarily have to be beyond the arc.

I'd rather have West than Antawn. His game won't deteriorate much with age and he's in his prime now. Jamison is still averaging 19 and 9 but I wouldn't be that happy having a guy who you expect to fall off, he's basically Z's age with a big contract. He's suprised people with how his games held up over the past couple years, but I can't see that lasting much longer.

The pluses with Antawn are that he creates his own shot better than any other option, and might not take much more than Z to get.

No. You can't really compare the two and their age when they decline because they've had vastly different careers. Z had major foot problems early in his career which obviously shortens his career and makes him begin his decline sooner and likely at a faster rate. On the other hand, Jamison has had essentially no injury problems and as a result is in VERY good shape and condition for his age. Does that mean he'll average 20/10 for the rest of his contract? No. But it's unlikely that he'll just fall off. He's probably going to slowly decline, but I have no qualms about trading for a player that will be able to contribute for the next few years (albeit at a declining rate).

edit: if David West was in his early 20s it'd be different, but he's not. He doesn't exactly have a decade of quality basketball left either.

Antwan is the better fit; and better player......for short term
long term David west would be the better option.....I'd take who ever we can get cheaper

Jamison > West

But:
Jamison has a worse contract.
Jamsion is older.
West is stronger and would probably be a better defensive mathup against KG, Gasol.

If I had to choose. I think I'd choose West. Because our offense is always going to be a "standstill" offense, so why go with the more versitle athletic offensive player, if he's older and has a bad contract.

And ofcourse this depends on what each team wants from us.

I prefer Jamison just because I know he brings heart to the equation. I question David Wests' overall effort/work ethic at times.. Not Jamison's.

Also, I think there's a greater chance of Jamison than West.

Honestly..either would be fine. Whichever one we can get without sending away Hickson is my pick.

I dont think we can get him but bosh may be available cause raptors are struggling. And even if they would make it to playoffs it will early exit. Or Al Harrington will most likely available.

All this Jamison talk, would the Wiz want to trade one of their stars to the hated Cavs, and for what in return?

I'd rank them as West, Gerald Wallace, and then Jamison as guys we can probably get for Hickson and a contract

Jamison plays awful defense.

Cap relief? Z + 1st? That would save the Wiz $28M over the next 2 years.

If we got really greedy and the Wiz wanted to blow it up and sign a FA next year:

Z + West + S&T Wally + 2 1sts for Butler and Jamison. :chuckles:

That would take $38M off their books, but no way they do that trade. We become instant favorites.

Have you checked out LakersGround or any other Lakers forum's trade idea yet? They want to get Derrick Rose for Jordan Farmar and LO and Kirk for Adam Morrison and Jordan Farmar.
