Just a couple of general tips for dynasty:
  • On the Fleaflicker app, open the menu and click Account -> Account Settings -> Email Alerts. On a PC, click the little gear on the top right of the screen and follow the same path. I'd recommend checking several things if they are not already. Trade review alerts, messages from league members, when a draft pick is made in an email draft (this will be useful since we're starting out email draft soon), and when you are up in an email draft are better left checked. Everything else is personal preference.
  • When it comes to trades, communication is key. One thing I've learned in my other league is that it really sucks when no one communicates. I often make trade offers that are rejected without any response telling me why. If you receive a trade offer you don't like, or even one you do like but you don't want to accept because you value your player more, it never hurts to detail the reasons to the other owner. Now, you don't have to show all your cards, or even be entirely truthful, but just commenting on why you didn't click accept goes a long way toward strengthening relations in the league and making it more likely that other trade offers will come in the future. A simple, "I would need at least <blank> to consider parting with Player X" is helpful, and means you might get a trade offer more to your liking in the future.
  • Just as an example, in my other league I've been trying to trade for a solid starting TE for this year (got OJ Howard, but don't expect him to be a TE1 this year). I am also looking for a reliable back-up QB (right now just got Goff and Kizer, neither of whom have proven yet they can be that guy). I made an offer for a QB to a team who I have also been trying to get Ebron from. He replied with three players he really liked from my team, all of whom I value a lot higher than Ebron and Rivers (the QB I made the offer for) combined. So I left him know that and explained why. He then offered to throw in a pick. Still not sure I'm going to make the deal, but explaining my thought process moved the trade forward into an area where at least I'll start considering it.
  • Just remember that, if people stay engaged, we could be playing in this league for years, so getting to know the other owners and what kind of deals they like to make will help you in the long run. And being the type of person who always responds to trade offers will make it more likely that you keep getting them, which benefits you in the long run.
 
Finally, is everyone okay with starting the draft tonight, or are there any other changes people would like to see made first? Again, I don't want to make any major rule or roster changes after the draft begins, as the settings absolutely impact draft strategy. After the draft starts, all rule changes will be ideas for next season.

Going to get this draft started around 8pm EST tonight unless anyone has any other rule issues they'd like to bring up before then.

Just a reminder for how the draft works...

When someone drafts, a league-wide email will be sent out. It will tell you who was drafted, the next few teams to pick, and how many picks until your next selection.

When it's your turn, you will need to log in to Fleaflicker and go to the Players tab. This will list all the available players, and from there you can sort them by position, averages, whatever until you find the guy you want to draft. Hit the draft button next to the player of your choice's name and you will be taken to a confirmation screen. Hit draft one more time and that player will be added to your roster and an email will be sent to the rest of us.

I'd encourage everyone to take one last look at the scoring settings to make sure they understand everything, as this will give you the best chance of maximizing your draft. Also, make sure you keep an eye on the roster settings so you can properly draft the positions you need. Fleaflicker will require you to fill all of your starting roster spots by the end of the draft. This shouldn't be an issue, but it is something to note. If you have an open LB spot and it's the last round of the draft, you will be forced to draft a LB. Again, I don't see this being a problem for anyone, but it is a Fleaflicker quirk.

There is no set time limit for making picks. However, try to make your selections in a timely manner so we can keep the draft moving. And if you're exploring offers or having conversations about trades with other owners, don't be afraid to just say that in the Mazey chat or in this topic so we know what's taking so long.

Finally, if for whatever reason you won't be able to log in to Fleaflicker but you know who you want to select, you can message me on here, on FF, or on Mazey and I can make your selection for you. I'll screenshot the message and post it here afterward to confirm.

And once again, don't forget to download Mazey. I think we're still missing sportscoach and either FiveThous or Rookie. I sent you all messages on Fleaflicker with instructions for how to join our RCF Dynasty group.

They should disappear automatically. If not one of the blue tabs that you can sort by has two options: Free Agent and Everyone. You want Free Agent.
