I think realgm also told the story about how he almost took the coach job at his alma mater, U of Evansville, just before the team was in the 1977 plane crash, crazy.
I had the pleasure of watching him and Jazz for 7 years while out in Utah in the 1990s. Fun team to watch. Well coached, for sure. Never met the guy, but he seemed a decent person. Nothing but fond memories.
Jerry was the kind of coach I grew up playing for, hard nosed no nonsense but truly a genius. Guys like Jerry understand the game and love it for its beauty, May his memory be eternal.
