Series Ten - Oakland A's vs. Cleveland Indians - May 3, 4, 5

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
First time we have won a series in Oakland since 2002. Tied for best 30-game start in team history. Not much to bitch about guys.

Don't quote me on this... and if someone wants to check in to it, feel free...

I am pretty sure that was our first series win THIS season, that was NOT a sweep. Almost positive.

Looks like you're right. We split a series with KC, but otherwise, all winning series before this one have been sweeps.

you might be right, i can't think of any off the top of my head. we tied KC at KC, lost to minny LAA and chicago, and swept everyone else

Am I late to the party? What'd I miss?! Did Durbin start and throw a no-hitter?!

Another intense game. Perez has been shaky lately. I gotta give it up to Durbin. Every time he comes in I worry, but he got it done today. I'm giving him my MVP for the day.

Damn, looks like Durb Durb got us out of some trouble....AND ON THE ROAD! Good shit!

Perez looked flustered that inning collecting the save. Yikes.

Whatever, though. A win is a win, and with Weaver and Haren coming up, I'll take a 2-1 trip away from Oakland against one of the best starting pitching staffs in the majors. Well done, Tribe!

I'm wondering if Perez is available to pitch tomorrow night? If not, who? We'll need a closer as Bat Masterson is pitching and he'll lead us to being ahead in the ninth.

BTW: I believe someone should have called time out in the bottom of the ninth to give Chris Perez a Kleenex or something? :dunno:

Perez's stuff just didn't look sharp today. I understand that he got the job done, but his pitches were all over the place and that's cause for concern. The truly great closers generally blow saves when they get beat, not when they beat themselves.

He's gonna have to avoid games like this, assuming an injury isn't what's caused the decrease in velocity.

@ClevelandLeader: In the past 15 years the team with the best record in baseball on May 5th has won the world Series 13 times.....

Better start taking ring sizes.....

Yeah, well, you haven't been paying attention then to Grady's strikeouts then. Typical homer fan, burying your head in the sand...:chuckles:

You know the old cliche, 'good teams find a way to win'? That is starting to apply to this team. They pitch well and end up doing enough offensively to gut it out. I found it strange some folks where bitching about the team coming from behind to win so often- as if this is a negative that the team never gives up. Kind of reminding me of a team last year that went to the World Series.

FWIW Chris Perez has always been a little wild. Didn't see the game, but he has pitched 5 of the last 7 days- that kind of workload can affect his velocity.

Better start taking ring sizes.....

So THAT is the 2-for-13 Jigo has been referring to then...:chuckles:

By my math the Indians are 1-1 over the last two games...leaving them wide open for a 4-14 streak over the next 18.

Perez says STFU Jigo....

And for all those telling me to stop making it interesting, would you even watch if every outing was 3 up 3 down? #Boring

When things get sticky in the 9th, I'm just trying to give the viewers the same adrenaline I get everynight
