OK, just chatting with my nemisis, and he threw this out casually (not an "official" offer, but something to think about):

Delhomme (one of his keepers)
Reggie Wayne (13th overall pick in the draft)

for

Shockey (16th overall pick)
Plummer (21st overall pick)

I'm really thinking about hopping on this one. I improve at WR and QB at the expense of TE, which could end up being minor if K2 blows up. Here's my current team at these positions:

QB Donovan McNabb, PHI
QB Jake Plummer, DEN
QB Brett Favre, GB
WR Terrell Owens, DAL
WR Andre Johnson, HOU
WR Terry Glenn, DAL
WR Michael Clayton, TB
WR Drew Bennett, TEN
TE Jeremy Shockey, NYG
TE L.J. Smith, PHI
TE Kellen Winslow, CLE

What do you think? Any reason I shouldn't take this? I can't think of any good ones.

There is one small consideration for the future and this trade. We're talking about altering keepers next year, where instead of keeping any 4 players, instead we keep 6, but just one per position (RB, QB, WR, TE, K, DEF).

As it stands, my keepers under that format would be:

LT
McNabb
T.O.
Shockey
Kaeding
Pit's D

If I make the trade, my keepers would then look like:

LT
McNabb
Wayne
K2 (or LJ Smith if K2 bombs)
Kaeding
Pit's D

I think Wayne is a superior keeper to T.O. b/c of age and the head case factor, but Shockey could end up being the second best TE in the league this year (after Gates, of course). If K2 proves to be a top 10 fantasy TE, then I like the second set of keepers better. If not, then I'm not sure.

However, the change in keepers is not for sure going to happen, so I hesitate to put much stock in it when making personell decisions. And in the short term (this season), I think I like my team better if I make the trade. Again, thoughts?

I would jump all over that! Delhomme has a chance to be a top 5 QB this year with S. Smith and Keyshawn. Reggie Wayne is a solid #1 fantasy WR, and this could be the year he passes Marvin on the depth chart as Peyton's favorite target. I would send the proposal this minute!

I don't like the new settings for your keepers. Talk them out of it so you can keep LT and Shaun!!!

OK, made this one official, and he immediately accepted. Trading the 16th and 21st picks for a keeper and the 13th pick, seems like a no brainer. It hurts him at QB and WR, while helping him at TE. Overall, I think he's weaker after the trade. A bonus for me!

LOL, yeah. A big reason for it is parity and my continuing domination of the league. The second big reason is it should make the draft much more talent rich and meaningful. As it stands, the draft, while not insignificant, is not strong. There are maybe 5 or 10 great players, and that's it. If we went this route, only 10 at each position would be kept, and not neccessarily the top 10 (for example, one of LT and SA would be in the draft). The first few rounds of the draft would be pretty crazy. The third thing would be it would increase the continuity of a team from one year to the next. All of which are very good reasons to do it.

The down side is many of us owners have made moves and built our teams with 4 keepers at any position in mind, like yours truly and my super stud RBs. It will screw us over.

If I win it all this year, giving me three championships and one second place in four years, it will be time to do something to mix it up. As much as it hurts me, for the good of the league I might vote for the keeper change. We'll see. If I lose, I'm voting that sucka down! Lol.
