So Long, David Nwaba

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Nwaba is a very interesting choice. Very gritty defender, hustles, plays 120%, looks to find open spots on the floor, has a nose for the ball. He plays with more confidence when he makes a shot. His shooting does need work but he does work on it. Was never a good 3 pt shooter but has worked on it the past year and half.

I would like Nwaba and Sexton to play together sometimes as long as Love and another shooter like Korver are on the floor. Nwaba is fast and runs down the floor so with both Sexton and Nwaba at times would definitely be exciting.

Fans will love Nwaba and nice find Koby again.

Nwaba is a late bloomer who will practice and play hard, increasing the intensity and focus of those around him. Carrick Felix and Sir Dom Pointer were drafted to fill this role, Delly took Jarrett Jack's job filling this role so well. The praise has been effusive the past few days, but realistically he isn't a starter. He is likely fighting for minutes, nothing is going to be handed to him.

He has some things still to work on, his outside shooting being the most glaring. I honestly don't think he should be on the court with Sexton too much until one of them becomes more consistent shooting from the outside. But he will be a backup shooting guard who has the potential to take somebody's court time if they are half-assing it in the regular season.

Don't you think the Cavs are discriminating here for giving Nwaba the roster spot over Sir Dom?

They are practically the same players. Sir Dom has a better first step and is taller though, so imo it's blasphemous.

I want an investigation.

Makes me want to keep Korver even more.

Sexton/Hill/Clarkson
Hill/Hood/Nwaba/Korver

Me likey (if you get rid of Clarkson for, say, Delly or someone)

I would pass. I really don't want Delly back. Hes a great energy guy but he really isn't really what we need. If we add another PG I hope its another play maker. Sexton showed he can pass and make plays in summer league. Cedi showed he could create a little bit. But who else can? Delly can't. We don't need another off ball PG. We need another play maker.

No. Your boy is going to enjoy a decade of that good Mediterranean diet and outlive all these "Live Fast, Die Young" NBA players though. Which is nice.

Just read that Nwaba's sister was on the 2016 US Olympic team for the heptathlon and won the national championship in her event in 2015. There's the evidence of a great work ethic and genes in the family.

He fits the idea of trying to construct a culture. Sexton is another relentless worker. This is not a team that will go without practicing.

There's still the question of who to jettison. JR is a prime candidate and has value due to the option year and the fact that his contract was signed under the old CBA, so those rules apply.

The other interesting suggestion I've seen around is sending Tristan to the Lakers for Deng and a first. There's a logjam at center with Nance, TT, Zizic, and Frye. That would be a move to consider if it is ever really an option.

Did we evrn sign this guy yet? No terms, no announcement, just a vague "have agreed to terms" yet "are working on final details." How long does that take?

Delly in the pick and roll provides plenty of additional play making. Unless you're talking about iso ball? In which case, I'll definitely take Delly over Clarkson.

Clarkson in the iso: "Buzz, your girlfriend, woof."

We're probably balancing a couple signings all at once. Nance and Hood are being negotiated now as well.

We might be considering trades for JR and/or Korver.

None of these moves are happening in a vacuum.

TBH, I never hear of this before last week. From watching all the Youtube videos on him I would play the guy as undersized small forward. A second unit of:

Hill PG
Clarkson SG
Nwaba SF
LNJ PF
Zizic c

So this guy is basically a rich man's SirDominic Pointer?

Does he have a little bit of Paul Pierce in him though? :chuckle:

Poor mans.

All this time I thought the Cavs were against Sir Dom because he had no three point shot(because he does everything else at a superstar level) and now they bring a player that shares exactly the same problem.

Talk about double standards...feels like a stab in the back tbh.
