So Long, Mo Gotti Williams

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I might be alone, and I realize what he did was kind of dickish. I don't feel people should hate him literally.

He was signed to a two-year contract. The Cavs agreed to sign him to that contract. A contract is a contract.

And it's not like 2 million dollars is pennies. He's retiring from a very lucrative career. I don't know about you, but I'd want my family taken care of going forward. So if Mo just wanted to collect that last paycheck, it's really hard to fault him for that.

Also, is it not possible he really wanted to truly come back? And it just came to realization that he really couldn't, given his knee?

I get being a little pissed, but hate the guy? Nah, come on. People change their minds all the time.

If he retired before the season on a "buyout" his money comes off the books because he retired.

It was a dick move.

It was a dick move. I agree. But I don't hate him for it.

What if he actually wanted to play though? It at least has to be a possibility he really thought he was going to be back, and then just couldn't.

It just seems odd to me he'd purposely want to screw the Cavs over like that. But, if that was his sincere purpose, then yeah, I guess he is an asshole.

It was his sincere reason.

He was mad we wanted him to return and our doctor said he didnt need surgery. He went to 3 doctors, the third said and did the surgery, but all 3 doctors were really good and very reputable, so its not about him not needing the surgery.

He delayed the surgery on purpose so we would be forced to put him on the DL. He felt the Cavs treated him like a piece of meat and was very hurt, so it was on purpose.

Mo is a very sensitive person, he was involved in the Delonte fucking Gloria issue and was off the team because of it.

Basically he did it on purpose 100% for sure, so once again fuck Mo Williams.

Agreed, get the f*** down the road Mo..

I'm not sure if that is true or not.

I remember Windy mentioning they could use the stretch provision if they bought out Mo, which would have stretched the salary burden over more years. Nevertheless, it still would have counted against our team salary (and tax) one way or another.

The real crunch that made it worse, in my opinion, was the dead roster spot (now alleviated) and leaving us without a veteran point guard (hopefully alleviated soon).

I always liked Mo, and while I'm not in agreement with how it all went down, it's not going to stop me from thinking of him with mostly fond memories and being glad he got a ring.

Sigh. Such a shame it had to end this way for Mo.

I had my frustration with Mo in his first stint here, esp during the playoffs. But, I also wanted him to come back. Seeing him and LeBron hug after we had won the championship was so beautiful to watch, as it had brought back all those memories during their first stint here.
