I certainly hope this won't prevent our celebs and heroes from destroying themselves, but isn't it about time it went the way of MySpace and Facebook?

It certainly isn't a platform that tends toward deep thought, but it's somewhat charming with its worldwide audience.

When I first joined in 2010, it was much more wide-open, with anything going.

I use it steadily to connect with other authors and to get news headlines.

Would it be totally hip to join now?

Asking for a fiend

Yes, a fiend

Twitter is best viewed through the lens of watching pigs roll in shit when they think they are rolling in mud. Block and mute religiously and your experience can be great.

Another billionaire vanity project.

Wake me up when they do something that really improves our society.

Billionaires having so much money is anti democratic because their voice steeped in money drowns out our votes. People say government doesn't work, but billionaires make sure that it doesn't work. In countries with progressive taxation government is more representative and they have programs that work instead of fail and then must be privatized.

Let's not forget that billions in grants and subsidies from the U.S. Government helped him save SpaceX and Tesla, and now he's using both companies as leverage to gain the funds needed to buy Twitter. That's NOT good at all.

Musk wants to implant devices in people's brains so their consciousness can be uploaded to the cloud. Surely he couldn't have nefarious intentions for a platform that has the power and resources to shape peoples worldview..never!

There's some serious issues with Elon buying Twitter that I don't think will ever be discussed much, and he's going to use the guise of "free speech" to get the minions to back him, flood Twitter with messages of support, and not realize the problems that could/will arise. The first two having the most potential for far reaching negative effects:

-It was reported he is using $15 bill or so of his own assets. Wall Street and other banks (including international banks) are putting up nearly $30 bill in funds to complete the acquisition.
-Musk already has a history of using the platform to influence financial markets. What's going to happen now with the contributions from Morgan Stanley, Citi, Bank of America, etc? Nothing bad could ever come of it for the American people.

-Taking the company private means he can scrap the board of directors
-Elon now has free reign to control the narrative about himself and other billionaire buddies on Twitter
-One three way phone call between Musk, Bezos, and Zuckeberg can seriously alter the way of life in the U.S. & abroad.

After the Gamestop and STONK craze, I'm sure there's no ulterior motive in them wanting to invest and provide the money for Elon to take over the platform.

If only someone's value capped at 1 billion.

Become a billionaire and you receive an award letter in the mail telling you that you won life. Perhaps with a fancy ribbon. After that, any additional earnings is 100% distributed to others below a certain threshold.

I loved one of the headlines I read....

"Twitter ready to sell itself to Elon."

Well Shaun King decided to Peace Out Cub Scout so my user experience is already on the rise….
