"Stevenson's Mom is overrated"

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
When I watch this soap opera between Lebron and Stephenson play out, I can't help but think back to a time in the Jordan era ...between the Cavs/Bulls... when we had a scrub named Danny Ferry that did everything in his power to try and escalate emotions between himself and Jordan ....to the point Ferry baited him into cocking his fist back and coming within an instant of delivering a punch to Ferry's head ...

Ferry came SO CLOSE to getting my personal MVP award that series, for if he succeeded in getting him to throw that punch, and ultimately get Jordan suspended for a game, it would have been enough to push us past the Bulls...for one time..

Not to be ....but, Ferry has to be thinking back to that time now when watching what Stephenson is doing with Lebron right now..

Indeed the comparisons are similar but I still think there is a further gap between stevenson and lebron as players then danny ferry and jordan. ferry was at least an awesome college player and hung around in the pros forever.

Mr. Stevenson has been dabbling with 14 year old girls in his off time and his on court antics could make damon jones blush. That hack he took at lebrons face and then got in his face after lebron took offense(who wouldnt?) was pure bush league.

Both Ferry and Stevenson has a lot of promise coming into the league though and neither delivered on their pro promise, that aspect is very similar.

W&G,

That series you mentioned with Ferry and Jordan going at it involved my first NBA game experience.

May 25th, 1992. Game 4 of the conference finals. First time seeing Jordan live. And the tension between him and Ferry was fantastic, albeit way too similar to what we are seeing right now.

This series is really bringing back some memories. After the punches Ferry threw, Stacey King got ejected for hitting Ferry hard. The Bulls were pretty fired up that next game and won pretty easily. The Cavs were banged up and just couldn't stop the momentum, losing the next two and the series.

It's good to be on the other side of a series like this.

The key in the comparison is that Stevenson is trying to get under LeBron's skin and make him do something foolish that'd cost the Cavs.

The problem with the Wizards is they just seem incapable of learning - while the Cavs just keep growing with experience.

Latest example was Arenas's braggadocio about being the #1 closer in the game and his older comments about LeBron not wanting to take the big shot. Rather than learn from the guy who'd already knocked his team out of the playoffs twice, he followed his own advice and forced up a terrible shot when he hadn't been hitting anything and lost game 5. LeBron on the hand, did what he always does but yet the Wizards just couldn't imagine that he'd give up the ball and let West try to hit the game winning shot. That just doesn't fit in to how they'd do things.

So it's not surprising that the Wiz would try to throw more and more gimmicks at us rather than just execute their offense and try to play fundamentally sound defense so they don't get creamed on the boards.

At least the Cavs learn from their losses.
