If you took Durant off of the Warriors and replaced him with a league average SF you'd have... well... unfortunately for him we have empiracle evidence that he isn't even top 25 in most valuable players to their respective teams while a member of the Warriors. What would they have? 1 or 2 more losses if they signed Barnes instead AND lost Bogut? Yeah, real valuable guy there!

Saw it live, sry :-/

NBA.com had the audacity to put LeBron 4th on the list in their latest update for MVP rankings. They put Harden, Westbrook, and KD ahead of him in that order. BS.

I think it goes Harden, LBJ, Westbrook, Kawhi right now. Westbrook has stuffed the stat sheet, but he doesn't have the record. I think it is between Harden and LBJ personally, whoever has the better record. LBJ having like at least a 5 win lead over Rockets probably gives him a more serious chance to win, otherwise it will be tough to top Harden right now.

Lol at Durant being so high. He's easily the second best player in the world, but for the last couple months you could argue that Curry has been outplaying Durant. At best, they've been more or less even. If it's not clear who is more valuable to his team, then neither should be anywhere near the MVP discussion.

Durants been the best perimeter defender in the league this year, better than kawhi.

He'd be a decent shot at mvp in normal circumstances ( i.e not joining a 73 win team). Durants injury might give the award to Kawhi if they nab the number 1 seed. Although i don't think he should get it.

Personally i think harden should get it. Unless we get the wins up over houston which seems really unlikely he should win mvp.

Lebron can settle for finals mvp.

Baring a Houston collapse Harden has it on lock at this point. 20 games isn't gonna change much.

Durant has had a nice year blocking shots/contesting bad teams at the rim...but he isn't even the best perimeter defender on his own team. Kawhi is the DPOTY, he's a moster on that end. (Draymond will prob. get it...)

San Antonio's D is amazing and they play heavy minutes from guys like LMA, Pau Gasol(basically, not the fastest or best defensive big men....not bad...but nothing to write home about..). Plus Tony Parker who can't guard anyone anymore. Manu's up there, etc. He's gotten some help from Danny Green and Dedmon, but Klay(super good perimeter defender) Iguodala(really good, used to be elite but he's lost a bit of a step), and Draymond(elite) are all high level defenders.

But Durant is not on the same stratosphere of Kawhi defensively.

Kawhis defense has taken a big drop this year even though at times its still been the best and overall its still great.

And durants been by far the best perimeter defender on his team this year. Who on that team has an argument? Green has been better overall.

Well, Um...

Fuck, KD joined a 73 win team and gets the BS refs on his side now. Of course he was gonna look better on D. He has a two time MVP, an allstar Dpoty, an allstar all nba defender, and a Finals MVP on his team.

He qualifies for for a wave brush...that's it.

STFU with this KD shit man.

Don't cry KD is playing the best d of his career and its elite. I don't have to just suck lebrons dick.

KD has the most help in the NBA by far but doesn't mean he hasn't improved.

Well KD isn't playing any D now because his brittle bones betrayed him

Going into the season I would've expected Curry and KD to be in the top 5 together, but splitting votes. At this point neither might crack top 5. And it's pretty unprecedented for a guy to go from unanimous to possibly 0 first place votes. :chuckle:

I don't even like dog-piling on Curry that much, but it's interesting.
