Rip me for looking past Sunday if you want, but it may help to think about the next year (in a much better way than we normally do).

Someone released the teams we play, and I have them at a pretty realistic 13-3 (loss to the Chiefs, Ravens and 1 other team i cant remember). If they play the 17th game (Arizona), I have them at 14-3.

I was one of the biggest proponents of acquiring a new QB until Baker seemed to turn his corner several weeks ago. Now I'm seeing our draft and free agency (?) needs focusing on defense and depth. We need an edge rusher, linebackers, at least one more corner, at least one more safety, a place kicker (!!!) and depth. With some uncertainty about the cap, and needing to retain guys like Chubb, Ward and Baker, im not sure what id do in free agency. With the draft, I'd lead defense-heavy with those 10 picks.

Its safe to say our front office and coaching staff is the right group going forward. Id extend Stefanski and Callahan for as long as they're willing.

As disappointing as the news out of Berea is today, and how frustrating this week may be leading up to Sunday, what do you all see as the outlook for the year(s) ahead?

Not ready for this yet. Team has a game Sunday night. While the situation isn’t ideal, they still have to be beaten.
we have a lot of time to talk about the off-season when the off-season is officially here.
Let’s see what happens Sunday night.

14-3? Man... I'd love some of your optimism. We have a tough schedule next year playing the NFC North and AFC West. I can see losses to the Ravens x2/Chiefs/Packers easily. Sweeping the Steelers wouldn't be easy, and teams like the Chargers/Vikings/Bears/Raiders aren't pushovers. Chargers could very well be a playoff team next year if fully healthy and depending on their new coach. Then the Cardinals?

17 games I think we go 12-5 at best, but realistically more like 11-6.

The only good team in the NFC North is the Packers. The Lions, Bears and Vikings are all bad teams currently. Obviously any of this can change.

The AFC West is good.

I'd bet you that we don't lose both Ravens matchups next season.

Only way I can look at the Bears and Vikings as wins is if we massively upgrade our defense. But who knows what they do to improve their teams as well. Just judging by how we are this year I think they would be tough games.

I wasn't trying to debate specifics though since a season often doesn't go as anyone predicts. I just don't see 14-3, which was my overall point.

Mentor Mitch and Cousins scare you?

Just as much as Derek Carr.

No - but the Bears have a good defense and the Vikings are pretty talented offensively with Cook, Jefferson, and Thielen. They're not auto-wins by any means.

I get that we've got big heads now but 13-3 is incredibly difficult to reach by ANY team. 14-3 is extremely unlikely to happen unless everything goes right for us from the draft, to free agency, training camp, and injury-wise.

A lot of my confidence for next year will hinge on how we shore up the defense in the draft and free agency/trades and if our LSU guys can return at a high level. There are a lot of talented opposing offenses on the schedule next season.

It's nice to not have many glaring holes on offense for once, so we can really key in our defensive talent and depth.

I'm not saying they're auto-wins, and I agree with you that a 3 loss season is incredibly difficult, and unlikely. I just think the NFC North isn't a "tough division" as you previously stated. I'd rate them as the second worst division in the NFC.

I mean I understand this thread is going to be useful I guess I didn’t know why it was started the week of the browns first playoff game in 18 years.. but carry on I will exit and not comment again until the offseason

I certainly don't think the Bears and Vikings are bad teams either. We'll have to agree to disagree on that.
