The Capricious Non partisan Government Arbitrary Action thread.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Not really. I don't think he's ever had much of a filter. Pelosi used to be very adept verbally. In watching her the last couple of years, she's clearly slid. I think McCain might be in the same boat to some degree.

Well....

I'd obviously prefer if he was more adept verbally. I just think he's a poor speaker period, and there are people who are like that. My focus here is on the particular disease -- either Alzheimers or some other form of dementia. I mean, when they played tapes of him from years ago or whatever, he seems like the same guy he is now. Maybe not a very likeable guy, and one who says a lot of stupid things, but that doesn't seem to be a recent development as he's gotten older.

Honestly, I was not trying to be political with my comment about Pelosi, and if you notice, I haven't been mocking her recently. I've seen it twice, at very close quarters, and it is very sad. I truly hope I'm wrong, and that there isn't any wrong with her in that regard. But until that comes out, I'm not going to be mocking her for this kind of stuff.

Watch some old videos of Trump he was not always so bad at speaking. Straight up not political as you say. He has slid very far.

He didn't do nearly as much of it, and he was never the target then the way is now as a politician were. But then there's the Billy Bush tape, right? I mean, some of these criticisms of him go back a very long way.

Anyway, if someone thinks Trump actually has signs of dementia, then I'd hope to see the same kind of response to him.

your benefit of the doubt apparatus is severely biased by the way.

Do you realize that in my scenario, I am actually giving the benefit of the doubt to Pelosi, and not to Trump?

The inevitable purging of voter rolls is one of the main reasons I thought it presumptuous to just assume the Dems would win back the House and/or Senate in two years.

Make no mistake, Republican-controlled states have already used this and gerrymandering to get an even former grip on things.

With regard to @Cavatt original question too:

1) I don't think Trump has dementia or pre-dementia. I'd say his memory is average but he bores easily and isn't very curious so he doesn't bother to learn stuff. So it may appear he is forgetting shit but it is actually him not knowing stuff and trying to conceal that.
2) Trump's speaking pattern has changed a lot since he announced he was running for President. It is more simplistic than the style he had employed formerly. This is expected as it is effective for a politician.
3) Trump is not good at speaking off the cuff on complex technical issues because he doesn't have a good grasp on policy. At all. He sticks to the same talking points because he is in over his head if is forced into the weeds.
4) Trump was never a good writer (all his shit was ghost-written) or good speech writer. He has always used direct and simple language with theatrical flourishes to make his point. It is his TV background at work.

In sum: What some people may see has signs of dementia, that is when Trump rambles off topic or goes on tangents and ultimately forgets what he was supposed to be talking about, I attribute to his NPD. I have been up close to a person with NPD that has the exact same issue: They stray off topic because they are constantly trying to boast, brag, invite praise or are trying to impress people. Conversations with them become incoherent rambling in which they use the word "I" a million times without ever getting to the point. You often have to steer them back on topic. I think @jvlgato can probably explain in more detail about the NPD stuff.

I wish we could pin the DSM symptom chart to every thread involving Trump.

It would clear so much up and could not be dismissed.

Anyone who believes that it is bogus to make DSM diagnoses without having actually met the person in question could dismiss it quite easily.

Agreed that it's absolutely in my ethical and professional interests not to "diagnose" anyone I haven't met and worked with. Having said that, Trump is just about as obvious as it gets when it comes to an example of NPD.

As are the Clintons and B. O.

Trumps is mean.
Trump is racist.
Trumps is stupid.
Trump is sexist.
Trump is a pathological liar.
Trump is mentally ill.
Trump is a narcissist.
He is a Nazi who loves Russia, a smooth bullshitter who can't talk, and an election winner who nobody likes.
He wants to screw his daughter with his syphilitic pecker while millions of emancipated Americans trudge across the Mexican border in search of birth control pills.

This pretty much sums up the disaffected's arguments in this non-partisan thread.
