I know there has been discussion on the SYFY/Amazon series The Expanse in other threads, but as it is a great show, and with a strong following on RCP, I thought it might be worthy of its own particular "space"...

I am struck by the depiction of the radicals elements who assume power/leadership and struggle with governing. The intriguing element is less about the righteousness of their cause (or possible lack of it), but how they change and evolve in a struggle to make it work.

Not caught up on the new season just yet, but damn if I don't love this show.

Sad that it's ending next season, but at least it is not going to overstay its welcome like some other shows that have dragged for too long.

I've not started the new season either...I have saved up to watch multiple episodes this weekend!

Just started this, and I'm really liking it...except for the incredibly annoying bar hag ambassador who sounds like she smokes about 4 packs a day. Does she (hopefully) die at any point in the first 2 seasons?

I think Avasarala will grow on you. She did for me.

Like those massive nodules on her vocal cords?

It's the way she talks that bugs the shit out of me. She's obviously not a native English speaker, which normally is fine. But the way she kind of chews her words when she says them makes it seem like she's just saying syllables but doesn't actually know the words. And I know that's not the case, but that plus the bar hag voice just takes me completely out of the scenes she's in.

Otherwise, great show.

Her character is prone to outbursts full of expletives and I found her voice makes those even funnier. I do think that in the first couple of seasons she is not portrayed in a very sympathetic way.

I think by the time you are done, you'll think that their handling of Avasarala is another reason why the show is great. The Expanse is great with its characters. Probably its strongest attribute. My favorite character by the end was my least favorite character when she was introduced.
