The Facelift

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If anyone one has been to the Cavs.com Message Boards (used to have HUGE attendance and traffic) you'd see this is a proper facelift.

That site tried to improve but just made a new site with Myspace features and everyone left. This new look makes the place look nicer and it's appealing to most.

So... good job.

Yes, the font needs to be bigger but everything else is nice.

I'm not a fan of how big the post margins are...

I liked the other site because the whole internet page was not the posting site, but rather it had side backgrounds (don't know how to explain it)..

I think the whole board is too wide..

I'm also not a fan of 'boxing' the status, join date, location, etc.... It makes it look clunky, and it stands out more than it needs to be...

I also liked how the 'status' was right below our names...

I liked the other board style because it was really unique compared to other boards.. To me, this looks like any other VBulletin board with our color...

But hey, what do I know...

I agree with you on the board being too wide. I liked how the old layout was smaller and centered. Maybe it's just because my monitor is widescreen, but with this layout there is a lot of blank white space because the board stretches to fit the whole page.

Really my only complaint though...everything else looks great.

I'm not on a widescreen monitor, but I can't say I'm a massive fan of this upgrade. I really liked the other style, if just felt a lot cleaner. I'm sure I'll get used to this one, though.

I haven't been a member here for long, and haven't posted much because I've have problem after problem trying to login. Many times I would be "locked" out of the site claiming I need to log in properly, even though I did. With that said, ever since the upgrade to the site, I have experienced no problems. I can log in and read posts just fine. I might just have to post more now. Thanks.

Glenjamin and Benjaminm in 08

I've been badgering Glen about a blue skin for about 2 years now :chuckles:

Looks great fellas!

site looks sexy... I will donate once football season starts

I hadnt said anything, its not my board, and I really respect Glenn and everyone else who has helped creat this board, but I agree with Smooth on this one for sure. I like the old version alot better. This just looks like any other board now. The cleaness is gone. Its like I am posting on a foreign message board. But atleast the same old quality posters should still be here.

I'm surprised by the many negative comments about the new skin.

Let me begin by saying that I feel that it is important to stay current with web trends. Every mainstream website out there has upgraded the look and feel to their sites for the better.

Some sites for example are: Ebay, YouTube and Myspace. 3 kingdoms of the web have all upgraded their site to a similar look to the one that we now have.

The old forum was out dated, buggy and limited to it's potential. We have been using that look for the past 4 years and I cannot be the only one that was tired of looking at it.

Anyway you could make it at least not as wide? That's really my only main beef..

The other ones I could careless about...

You did a great job and I respect what you do, so don't get me wrong...

Glen,
I'll be the first to say that this is a great site with a great format no matter what, but I did like some of the slick little things on the old site (these have been mentioned before, but I figured i'd back those people up), like having the status under the names and the splashscreens with the big high res pictures on the main page.

Don't post much, but figured I'd let you know I appreciated RCF's unique layout and the features that caught my eye in the beginning ... the posts kept me around, but 1st impressions are important for sure ....

Hopefully you have the flexibility to make some minor aesthetic changes to keep the place so so fresh.

I've tried that. Unfortunately adjusting the size just makes the forum look worse. If the beef is just the width of the forum, then simply do not stretch it from ear to ear of your monitor. :chuckles:

Honestly though, that would probably be your only solution.

Looks good. Like noted above the wideness of the board may be a tad weird now but it's something you will get adjusted to.

You have to upgrade, like Glen said it's the only way to keep the potential up and keep growing.
