Thanks for this post by the way.To keep debating that call cheapens the game, which was an epic one. That's what pisses me off about harbaugh.
This was Michigan's game to win, that's what they should be talking about. Up 10 and in control. I thought Speight played well, but that 2nd INT, and the box score say he wasn't super effective. They couldn't run the ball on us, and we decided to make Speight beat us, and he almost did, because that Michigan defense was on point.
I think we just wore them out. I don't know if that's depth or just mental concentration because they were playing on the road, but we grinded. Obviously we didn't play our best game, but Meyer's teams don't quit.
What a game. Let's put the officiating aside and talk about how McMillan, Baker, and Worley had 16, 15, and 11 tackles respectively. Those are some massive numbers from our LBs. Let's talk about how Barrett ran too many times (again). Let's talk about how Samuel has that feel where he is making other future NFL players look slow. We still have no WRs who can get separation.
Can we please just talk about the GAME for a minute?
How many more days until we play again? It's going to feel like an eternity.
Honestly, I just feel extremely fortunate and grateful that we were able to win that game. I can't remember the last time I felt that way because I can't remember the last time we were outplayed for such a large portion of the game (excluding the Fickell season). Probably have to go back to the Florida Championship game. And in a win? I don't think I've ever seen us win a game in that fashion.
Was really just an unprecedented game. Gave me a shitload of respect for Michigan's team, as I mentioned the other day. Obviously for our team as well for hanging in there and wearing them down in the end. Michigan's mistakes helped big time, but we made plays too. Raekwon's blitz was perfect. Baker's INT was pretty incredible. By the 4Q Michigan was tired and we started moving the ball at will. Etc.
I was confident early in the week that Michigan wouldn't run on us and I was right. Their run game is...not good. What surprised me more than anything about the game was the trenches. Our OL got obliterated for 3 quarters and our DL struggled to get pressure throughout the game. Thankfully, when we did, Speight didn't handle it very well at all.
Also, beating a dead horse here, but Samuel needs more fucking carries. His lack of carries is just inexcusable given his YPC. Make him the feature back if you have to, I don't care. It's ridiculous he's getting under 10 carries per game.
I love this defense. They have saved our ass so many times this season it's not even funny. They give us a chance against anyone. This is a different team...not the offensive juggernaut we've been used to, which is fine. This is more of a Tressel type team, honestly. But with an aggressive coach. Only thing that's missing is a Kicker...
