The Gold is Golder: New uniforms to come?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I fucking hate Nike. Every one of these jerseys is some horrendous, Chinese knock-off Euroleague looking garbage.

I wish I didn’t agree with this.

I know Nike thinks they’re bringing several uniform designs “into the 21st century”, but several things about them clash and just don’t work. Nike wouldn’t know “elegance” if they were beat over the head with it.

Plus, everything they do has a weird air of pretentiousness about them.

Funny how a thread like this brings out such strong emotions… taste in uniforms seems to span a range similar to that for cars and music

Loved LeBron 1.0 jerseys; disliked the ones we just moved on from; really like the new ones (what I've seen so far)

Willing to bet they will look even better in game.

Someone asked me this and I have no idea.

Why have the Cavs featured jersey #46 in many of their new jersey launches?

I thought maybe number of seasons? But they used it last year and this year.

some graphic designer probably thinks they are the numbers that are the most pleasing to the eye, they do fill the space well

No more powder blue, at least in their primary uniforms.

This is an atrocity. The White one is kinda meh-ok, but the dark one... Holy hell is it shit. Utter garbage.

Agreed on the Denver discussion, the powder blue was a good fit for them. All of these Nike jerseys feel like something a college team would wear. Even the Pacers, which I actually really like, seems more college than pro to me. EDIT: On first look I thought powder blue was gone altogether... I don't mind the Denver update too much other than having yellow on white in the wordmark. Maybe they'll have a powder blue alternate?

The Nuggets should make a whole set based on these:

IDK what it is about that side panel pattern (which I also love on Marquette and the Cavs) that appeals to me so much but this is gorgeous. And it pays homage to a unique but IMO ugly old school jersey. Pretty much perfection. And actually it's not bad as an alternate to what they had before... Didn't really need an update. I feel like a lot of NBA teams are changing for no reason.

As for the Jazz, they've done pretty well since going to the throwback look. Might be better going back to purple but keeping the rest the same though. The Suns need more purple too. Purple is awesome.

The more I look at the Cavs set the more it seems fine. Abandoning the old identity of a throwback look isn't a big deal. Unfortunately the new design is not one built to last, but fortunately they aren't horrendously ugly, they just swing and miss on a lot of details.

EDIT: If this TWolves leak is real, then Jesus fuck this new Nike era for the NBA is off to a shit start. Good lord they are botching these redesigns.

ok.. soooo this shows the wine uniform with GOLD lettering... wtf is going on??

never mind... Im a moron.... forgot it was the Numbers that were Navy... carry on!

I do like that they're going back to the straps being thinner.

When the Sixers wore those shinny jerseys that looked like cut off sleeves starting around 2001 I about lost it...

Those new wolves uniforms are legit. Wiggins posted a picture of himself on them.

My God, Nike is trash.

I really haven't been overly impressed with what Nike is doing. Didn't like Denver going away from the powder blue. Meh on the Pacers. The best uniforms, for the most part, have been the ones they've barely touched/changed.

Keep in mind it's not like Nike gets free reign here.

Think about how nice USA basketball, Soccer, Etc. stuff typically is.

That's because Nike's designers get a lot more autonomy to actually design cool shit.

Owners are egomaniacal lunatics with no design aesthetic (See the Browns).

Typically what happens in every design project is the boss picks the one he "likes" best or he gets too nervous that what is being designed is too new (see Browns) and they either rush through another version of the jersey or they pick the one the owner likes the best (advice be damned).

For a majority of people, this could be the worst possible selection but for the boss, it's the best, so Nike makes it. That's how teams end up with horrendous jersey redesigns.....because the idiot owner thinks he knows more than a professional designer.

The best example of an owner getting out of the way was Milwaukee. They entrusted a really talented design group, who had never done jerseys before, to inject life in to the brand. Owners trusted in their talent and expertise and their new jerseys were awesome.

Minnesota officially has the worst uniforms in the league. Come on Nike.
