The Greatest Basketball Player Of All Time Turns 60 Today….

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Flawed individual, Flawless athlete.

That's what it takes, I guess.

I'm more of a Bill Russell guy but for GOAT put me on Team Kareem.

MJ and LeBron made movies with Bugs Bunny.

Kareem made a movie with Bruce Lee who WAS Kareem's sensei.

If Bruce Lee was your sensei that puts you in the same group as Chuck Norris.

If your movie partners you with Bugs Bunny then you're in the same group as Daffy Duck.

Kareem. Badass.

Plus he was in the cockpit with Peter Graves (Mr Phelps, head of the original Mission Impossible). More badassery.

Check out Kareem's moves battling Bruce Lee & get back to me.

Picking Kareem is generally an easy out at a party. Everyone either thinks you’re nuts and excludes you from the conversation (big positive IMO), has no idea who Kareem was (this happens now) or gives you props for going against the grain (whatever).

The answer IMO is:

Jordan
LeBron
Kareem

And then gets down to playing favorites after there.

Are you an 80s and 90s guy? Then you might be bumping Chamberlain and Wilt with Magic and Bird. If you’re a Lakers guy, Magic beats Bird. Celts guy ranks Bird above Magic. Is Russell’s team dominance or Chamberlain’s physical prowess more important?

I don’t like Kobe in the top 10 ahead of Shaq, Curry, Duncan, Hakeem, and maybe even Oscar Robertson. I also am just not a big fan of Kobe’s game because it was just a lesser carbon copy of Jordan’s. (And his music sucked) @RchfldCavRaised gets it.

Joker is going top 10 after bis career and maybe top 5

Better 3pt shooter, more efficient from the field, wayyyy better passer, better rebounder, just as clutch, more mentally stable and dependable (aka didn't retire twice and come back), could guard more positions (more switchable!) different eras though... Still

Lebron is the GOAT.

EDIT: forgot to mention - Bigger and stronger. Congrats on beating 38 year old John Stockton! Gerald Wilkens would struggle to make a roster right now. :chuckle:

Jordan was unquestionably more dominant in his era/time, but Lebron is the best who has ever done it.

He’s gotta win a championship first though

Fucking Phoenix and Durant with his super teaming is going to take the west this year though

Wilt also has an argument as GOAT. Not for 50 / 30 / 48.5 minutes average in a season, not for his all time rebounds, but for all the women he boinked. Imagine how broke his ass would have been if DNA testing and aggressive child support existed in his day.

That's for the 80's and 90's guys who did a lot of coke.

How does every MJ post turn into a GOAT debate
