Re: Nets and Magic?? VC and Dwight?

Orlando is in win now mode if that deal goes through. Their core is really old when you look at it, Lewis, Turk are both 30 and are two of their most important players. They are good for now, but with VC they trade most of thier younger talent for an aging vet. Win now mode here Orlando comes.

Re: Nets and Magic?? VC and Dwight?

If I'm an Orlando fan, I'd be pissed right now. VC may not be over the hill but he is damn close.

Re: Nets and Magic?? VC and Dwight?

This trade smells like Dallas trading for Jason Kidd

I hope they have the same results... only that Courtney Lee doesnt go bananas like Devin Harris did

Re: Vince Carter to Orlando?

So if (and I guess its somewhat of a big if) this trade means Carter in and more than half of Orlando's rotation from the ECF (Turkoglu, Lee, Gortat, Alston, and Batie) are out - I like this trade.

- Orlando gets stuck with another inflated contract.
- Unlike Turkoglu, Carter has not been exactly a player that can carry a team in the clutch.
- The loss of Batie, Lee, and Alston (along with the probable loss of Gortat) means Orlando's depth is REALLY hurting both in the front court and back court.
- The matchup problems on defense aren't as prevalent. Freakin Sasha held VC in check in the 07 playoffs, I think Delonte can do the same now.

While I think Vince Carter is a better player than Turkoglu, when you factor in the money and the system - Orlando is better off with Hedo at $10-12 million. He fits their system well and is an obvious team leader. Carter hasn't given a crap since he got into the league.

They go from:

Nelson/Alston
Lee/Redick
Turkoglu/Pietrus
Lewis/Batie
Howard/Gortat

to

Nelson/Johnson
Pietrus/Redick
Carter/?
Lewis/?
Howard/?

I'm sure at least one of those ? would be a total scrub and another will be a rookie.

Now for those thinking the Nets are a real possibility for LeBron in 2010, this deal isn't the greatest. The Nets would unload their only major salary player for the 10-11 season and still keep their young core (Harris, Yi, Lopez along with Lee).

Re: Vince Carter to Orlando?

If they do this and let turkeyglue go, I think it makes them worse imo. Not only Hedo, but if they want to avoid the tax how do they resign Gortat. Carter - Turkeyglue - Gortat - Lee - Skip doesn't equal a better all round team imo.

Re: Nets and Magic?? VC and Dwight?

Well if ORL is doing this b/c they cant seem to keep HEDO...Then i guess this isnt as bad

ORL picks up carte+ nelson backr< ORl looses Hdo,Lee and rafer= "the big picture"

Re: Nets and Magic?? VC and Dwight?

Regardless, if Hedo comes back that is a pretty damn formidable team. If he doesn't come back I don't think they are better with VC.

Nelson, Carter, Turkoglu, Lewis and Howard > Nelson, Lee, Turkoglu, Lewis and Howard IMHO.

I never much cared for Alston but I think that scenario would leave another team ample opportunity to pick up Gortat.

Re: Nets and Magic?? VC and Dwight?

Game 7: ECF Finals.

Orlando runs a P&R with Dwight & Carter.

The defenders leave Howard & double Carter.

*5 seconds left*

Carter takes a contested fadeaway three pointer.

Re: Nets and Magic?? VC and Dwight?

I really would like to see Carter a Cavalier, honestly. Especially since we just got Shaq.. But it's pretty much impossible unless we trade Z away.

It'll be interesting to see how Carter fairs with Orlando along side Dwight. I don't know if it's such a good move to give up Lee, hes shown hes got a lot of talent and fits great with Orlando.

Re: Nets and Magic?? VC and Dwight?

IF Lee goes to NJ he might boost his scoring average to 10 possibly 11ppg

If Orlando gets Carter plus another 3 point shooting PF in Anderson and keep Turkoglu then you can forget about going to the Finals for at least 3 years.

Devin Harris has way more upside than Lee ever did.

I agree that it puts the Cavs in a more difficult situation and LOWERS the chances that the Cavaliers go to the NBA Finals, but it definitely doesn't put the Finals out of reach for the Cavs at all.

First of all, aside from your comment, the wording the ESPN article is highly biased. I don't think it even puts the Magic into the favorite role in the Eastern Conference. Very poorly written NEWS article. NEWS articles are supposed to be only informative, and not provide opinion

The Cavs are not done improving. LeBron will step up his game even more, Shaq will add a different dynamic to the offense and the defense, and we can add another player in the draft and free agency. In an offense, there are only enough shots to go around. Adding Carter to the Magic takes away the defense C. Lee provides, and cannot add THAT much because there are only so many shots to go around. If anything, it takes away some of the Magic's youth and decreases their chances of going to the Finals in a 2 or 3 years.

Windhorst says deal is done on his Twitter...

Re: Nets and Magic?? VC and Dwight?

It's a done deal, but that isn't the big question. The big question is will they be able to re-sign Hedo? If they can, they will easily be heavy favorites to win it all. If it cost them Hedo, they got a lot worse IMO. They basically traded 3 of there starters in the playoffs (Hedo, Rafer, Lee) for a 32 year old two guard with questionable knees and bad shot selection. He is still great but a shell of his former self. Obviously better than Lee, but no where near the value of Lee and Hedo (not to mention they lose Rafer, so Johnson is there back-up again).

Right now, I am more worried about what happens to Hedo this off-season more than anything else. I think we need to clear some cap for Portland.

Vince Carter to the Magic!!!...WOW

According to Windy's Twitter, the Magic now have Vince Carter:

PDcavsinsiderSome deal. The Magic's payroll for next season and 2010-11 now deep in tax plus they owe 100mm for arena. Don't see Hedo fitting, we'll see.6 minutes ago from web

PDcavsinsiderAdrian Woj of Yahoo! now says Vince Carter deal is done. With R.Anderson to Orlando for T.Battie, R.Alston & C. Lee. Wow.

But this may mean, no HEDO...
