"But the bigger takeaway here is that Bannon believes Trump will fail. The wall? Probably not going to happen. Sweeping tax cuts? Bannon predicted “they’ll do a very standard Republican version of taxes.” Repealing Obamacare? Please. Bannon called the GOP plan that Trump backed “a half-hearted attempt at Obamacare reform.”

The short translation is that Trump's campaign was a fraud. The ideas that Trump sold and his supporters bought are unlikely to turn into actions, according to Bannon."

The markets began to roll over Friday as traders realized tax reform will likely be mild. It's going to be interesting to see what happens to Trump surrogate talking points if we have a market correction this fall.

That conclusion is preposterous. The fact that Republicans in Congress lack the stones to pass bills on those issues doesn't make Trump's campaign on those issues a fraud.

That would be the same as saying that Obama's unfulfilled promise to close Gitmo was a fraud. He meant what he said, but Congress blocked him.

That seems like a clickbaity article.

First of all, the Senate doesn't impeach, they try the President after impeachment. So he's not any amount of Senate votes away from impeachment. The article does mention this, but misleading title.

Second, the article just mentions all the GOP senators he has had public spats with. Doesn't necessarily mean they know which way any of them would vote during a trial.

I don't think we see impeachment, that will be hard to do in this House. But we are certainly at about a 5 on the 1-10 scale. I think more likely we see Trump resign in the next 12 months. I think the Mueller heat gets turned way up on Jr., Trump pardons him and uses that as his excuse to resign, saying family comes first. Pence will give a full pardon to DJT for any future crimes. I do hope DJT hangs around long enough to influence the 2018 midterms. Pence may be able to save the House. It will require a miracle from Trump.

Trump doesn't want this job. He is isolated, impotent, and without allies. He has even been forced to sanction Vlad. I'm sure the wheels are already turning in his head looking for an exit. He is like Hitler in his bunker now.

He has lost his Chief of Staff, Senior Advisor, Press Secretary, National Security Advisor, Manufacturung Council, Arts Council, and Infrastructure Council all in six months! He is under criminal investigation for collision with a foreign government. Charities are boycotting his resorts. Foreign leaders are laughing at him. Athletes shunning him. Kim Jung Un played him like a fiddle. This is pure lunacy.

Charlottesville was his chance to save his Presidency. There is no coming back from Tuesday. The water has been contaminated. I swear to you I was waiting on Saturday for his presser, looking for leadership, and he failed us miserably by supporting the Neo Nazis and KKK. You don't come back from that. That was his "tear down this wall" moment. And instead he supported Neo Nazis. Shameful. And then Tuesday he doubled down.

I will say this, the only way he can somehow hang on is if he listens to everything John Kelly tells him for the next 3 years. But he's Trump so he won't. Kelly is the real American hero right now for keeping a finger on Trump as best he can.
Honestly man you should hope that Trump sticks it out. Mike Pence would be much worse for you politically, imo.

Not if he finds Trump completely embarrassing and frustrating, which many people do.

Mike Pence is Ryan and McConnell's guy though and I think they would get a lot through congress with him as President. To me it seems like a question of whether you think an embarrassing baffoon that doesn't get much done is worse than a more "presidential" president that gets through a lot of legislation you hate.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think the GOP is gonna be a little bit fucked regardless if Trump is out. Ryan or Pence would be far more competent at working out Republican "solutions" but as a result of Trump there will be an inherent distrust with the party if he's ousted, both with Trumpsters and the left. They'll have a fight on every issue and things will like remain at this high tension level for a while regardless.

If Trump is out I'd think it'd be bad news for them and their new policies in 2018/2020 anyway, but I've overestimated the American electorate before.

The reason Trump's campaign was a fraud is because he acted as if he gave a shit about his policies and that he'd work hard for them. He seems to have mostly given up on a lot of his early failed policies, in some cases without even any effort on his end, like healthcare. Do you think he did ANYTHING on healthcare besides try to boss people into voting for it? It's still early so he may get petty enough to take more action on one of his failures, but anyone with sense knew he was a huckster fraud from the start. Edit: Fraud in that he actually gave a shit. His policies are independently awful so I must say I'm relieved he's as incompetent as he is since we still have Obamacare. But his lack of knowledge and inability to lead are really hurting us elsewhere.

I literally said this two days ago in this thread. It sounds like you are actually parroting my opinion.

And to refresh: Yes, I want Trump gone. Any American should. We do not want Nazi apologists and white supremacists in the Oval. However, the liberal in me thinks it would be best for Trump to hang on by his fingernails for 12 more months, lose the House, and then get out. Either outcome is ok, but the second is probably best.

I for one am absolutely shocked that a pathological liar lied about things on the campaign trail.

More shocked that people actually believed that Trump cared about anything outside of fueling his massive ego with a presidential run.

I still firmly believe Trump didn't want to win.

Totally agree. I still remember when he met with Obama after he won and he looked scared shitless. That was the one brief moment where I hoped he'd take it seriously.

That lasted about a day before he doubled down on being a dumb asshole again.

He wanted to win, he didn't want to do the job. Not sure if that Kasich rumor was true but I wouldn't have put it past Trump to try to find someone to do the work while he parades around in a President sash.
