Picked up God of War yesterday. One of those rare games that’s more than just a game - it’s an experience, a work of art.
The one cut camera cinematic they used was a great choice for this game. Don't think any other game has used that style (no loading screens unless you die or quit and reload the game).
Was playing Sea of Thieves earlier and we encountered our first ship of Pirate Legends. There were at least two of them on the enemy ship. Possibly three, although I know at least one of them was either not one or had a different title equipped (as you earn titles, you can equip one, and it appears under your gamer tag in game). We smoked them and sunk their ship three times, stealing their loot each time.
During the fight, we'd see the guys we'd just killed on the Ship of the Damned (everyone on the same server goes there when they die for 20-30 seconds until they are allowed to respawn), and one of the Legend guys kept talking shit to us. I just kept laughing and asking him who carried him to Pirate Legend status, because he obviously wasn't good enough to have done the work himself.
After we sunk them the third time and sold their shit, that guy who was talking shit sent me a string of messages over Xbox calling me trash, saying that the fight was unfair because I was on PC (maybe true, but not my fault the game is multi-platform), that he was playing with randoms (at least one of whom was another Legend, meaning he's played the game a hell of a lot more than I have), and that I need a life. Is there anything better in competitive gaming than getting messages like that after you handed someone their ass?
I talked some light shit back to him (mostly just reminded him that we easily handled them several times and stole their shit), and he responded: "enjoy ban bud."
Kids these days are so fucking weak. This dude messages me to talk shit and then cries to Xbox when I respond? I just said: "Ban for what? Being better than you?"
Laughable that these kids actually think Xbox is going to ban us for shit like that.
Be careful talking shit on MS services these days. MS updated their ToS recently which allows them to go through all your MS software accounts when they receive complaints (Skype, outlook, messenger, and XBL ect.. ) and ban the user from all services. This means a user can have all their digital XBL licenses revoked for talking shit on skype even if it wasn't through XBL.
I don't use any of their services except XBL.
And I'm not worried about any consequences. Dude messaged me to talk shit and I simply responded. I also didn't use any foul language specifically to avoid being banned.
Cool, wasn't sure how many people knew because the updated ToS is about a week or two old.
To answer your question about the Uncharted series using a one cut cinematic they definitely tried in 3 & 4 but still had loading screens throughout those games, there was actually a bug that would cause the game to take hours to load. Usually happened when players skipped cut scenes because naughty dog set it up to load in the background round during cut scenes. Been about a year since I played through the whole series last.
I never played four (that was the PS4 one, right?), but as I recall three had only the initial load time and no others. Never had any issues with that loading bug, though, as I only played the game once and thus had no reason to ever skip anything.
I'll be buying Zero Dawn too when I'm done with GoW, but I'll probably pick up a used copy to save a few dollars.Slowly working through God of War. The combat in this game is fucking incredible, some of the best combat I've experienced in this type of game. Really puts the older GoW titles to shame in that category.
Gotta hope this franchise is back and they plan on continuing it. Haven't beaten the game yet though.
Anyways, impulse bought Horizon: Zero Dawn today. It was only $40 on Amazon and I had points to spare so I just picked it up, I'll get to it at some point.
