The Windhorst Tracker - (Shaq for Ben and Sasha?)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
IMO, it sounds like the plan was to try and get the best guy available and if they couldn't, they'd snag Brad Miller at the last minute.

So when Miller got traded yesterday, it foiled everything Ferry had planned and he was left without a fail safe.

Ferry pictured himself the smartest man in the room, and now everyone in the country is saying he's a ****ing idiot. Miller/Salmons >>> doing nothing. Vince Carter >>> doing nothing. RJ >>> doing nothing. Let's face it - we blew it. We can't rationalize the shit away. If W&G says "obviously I'm disappointed," "hindsight is 20/20," and "if Ferry could go back and change it he would" then I think that speaks volumes. Those are remarks indicative of someone saying "Oh shit! What have I done?"

From Wine and Gold

That is exactly what I have been saying basically. Why did he wait so long? Did he honestly think that someone like Bosh would become available and we could honestly get him for Wally and JJ???

If he didn't utilize the kid of patience he did here, we wouldn't have gotten Mo Williams in trade. History tells us that usually the best options come the closer you get to the deadline.

What he did wrong was not being able to predict the future.

Did you know all the moves that were going to go down today, yesterday ? If you didn't, how can you blame Danny Ferry ?

Actually people who can't understand the process isn't perfect, and nobody bats 1000 are the idiots.

Because he is a GM who is supposedly on the phones all the time. Wouldn't he be a lot more likely to know what is going on than me?

Can't blame him at all. I'll trust his judgement here. It doesn't mean it's not disappointing to have missed on this opportunity. At the end of the day, the team isn't any worse, but it's not any better. We were sold on the idea that trading Wally's contract could make us better. That's all there is to it.

isn't it funny?

you've got the people who think Ferry can predict the future, and you've got the people who think they know every deal ferry made/offered by what gets reported

Think the point he's making is did you know Brad Miller was going to get traded yesterday? From what I gathered from W&G's previous posts, that was what messed up Ferry's moves of getting Camby and Salmons here.

I don't think every GM called up Ferry and asked for his approval before they made trades to better their teams. The Bulls got the trade in for Miller/Salmons before anyone else did and didn't wait for the deadline to do it. Lucky them I guess, but I agree again you can't blame Ferry for that.

This whole situation can be summarized like this, IMO:

Ferry had the chance to make the simple pass for the assist that would have won us the game (won the championship. Instead, Ferry decided not to make a simple pass and instead tried to make a fancy, behind-the-back pass which flew out of bounds.

Did his ill-advised choice to go for the fancy pass cost us the championship? We'll find out in June...

Who the hell are all these posters on here?

Teams are gun shy despite the economy turning south: no teams wants to put in a Memphis like situation it looks like where the organization is mocked and the fans turn on the team. It looks like the team who tried to dump salary (the Hornets) already have a ticket draw and the other teams were scared that they would lose too much ticket sales/TV revenue if fans decided that they were on a firesale.

I actually can't stand Wally's game so from my perspective I wouldn't mind him gone for that alone but it's not all doom and gloom. Next year we'll have Sasha's, Ben's expirings to deal with as well.

Does for example a guy like RJ really do all that much for this team with the way Sasha and West have played when healthy? Remember he's having a terrible year: I certainly wouldn't give up more then Wally to get him. Ferry decided to go for a blockbuster instead of an incremental improvement. Consider the record, the injuries, and the chemistry on this team why gamble on a mediocre improvement?

Vince and RJ didn't get traded, right? You can pretty much suggest they weren't available then since no other team got them. I think if the trade was there to be made, it would of happened - if not with the Cavs but another team.

What does knowing the future have anything to do with how bad of a job ferry did none of the trades that went down today were any of the guys we wanted nor needed.

You guys who are talking about Delonte not being able to guard Kobe, what about Sasha? Sasha has held to Kobe to shooting in the 30s in terms of percent.

All you complainers need to shut up and realize this team is 41-11 with THE best player in the game. Hampered by injuries, this team has shown that they are still contenders. Yes, it would have been nice to make a trade but we are still legit.

Get off Ferry's back. There is a reason he has the job and you people complain behind computer screens. You guys have absolutely no clue what goes on behind those doors and I don't either. We roll with the team that is 41-11 and maybe pick a guy off of waivers.

I can't tell what you're saying because of your lack of punctuation but it looks like you're saying Ferry did a bad job because the guys we wanted weren't traded to other teams?

If so, that makes no sense. You'd be arguing against your point because that only means they weren't available for plausible deals.
