You know what would have softened things quite a bit... at least for me? It's something real damn easy he could have done.
Okay fine; have your one hour special show on ESPN and your night in the spotlight. That would have been okay if you had done this:
As soon as he sat down, and when the first question was asked;
"First off, I would love to address the city of Cleveland and all her fans, the city of Akron and all her fans, all of Northeast, Ohio, all of the state of ohio, and all Cleveland Cavalier fans across the country and over the world.
Then he turns in his seat to directly face the camera and starts speaking.
To my fans out there; I want to start off saying that I will not be returning to the Cavs next year. I feel real bad about it but feel I have a unique opportunity with my new team. I am sorry to all of you because I know this is going to be disappointing to my many fans. I am sorry to the Cleveland Cavaliers as this is not personal. You have a great organization. I have many friends on the Cavs. I am sorry that this is ending.

If he had simply addressed US FIRST; that would have went a long ways with many of us. He didn't. He's a prick. He's going to be hated for the rest of his life. He's not welcome to Ohio in any capacity at all.
It could have been a simple thing to do.
