I think the front office has to factor in fit when selecting a player going forward unless they think that player is a top tier talent that will be our #1 option going forward.
More than just fit, I think the front office needs to think of flexibility to eventually build the roster. Sexton, Garland, and Okoro aren't players that create much flexibility with the positions they can play especially when put together.
I thought Okoro brought some flexibility but he is a SG size player without SG skills. If he was solidly a SF in size and could play some SG and PF like he was advertised as, we would be able to construct this team alot easier. Koby seems to keep dig himself into a deeper hole with each draft.
Also beyond fit and flexibility, if you are drafting guys that you ultimately have to trade away to gain fit, you end up losing other things that I think the front office wants to build. If you have to turn over the roster, things like chemistry, work ethic, culture, etc get lost as you trade away players. They invest years into these guys to develop them and have them buy in to what they want the team to do.
