Celtics Waive Batista

BOSTON, MA - The Boston Celtics announced today that the club has requested waivers on center Esteban Batista. The training camp roster now stands at 16.

Batista signed as a free agent on September 26, 2007. The 6'10", 268-pound center appeared in one preseason game, averaging 7.0 points and 5.0 rebounds in 19.0 minutes per game.

Bucks Waive Samaki Walker

The Bucks waived Samaki Walker on Wednesday.

The 31-year-old Walker signed a free-agent contract with Milwaukee three weeks ago but did not appear in a game during the preseason.

Nuggets Sign Mike Wilks

The Nuggets signed veteran guard Mike Wilks on Thursday.

The 5-foot-10 Wilks has played five NBA seasons with Atlanta, Minnesota, Houston, San Antonio, Cleveland and Seattle. He averaged 3.6 points and 1.7 assists in 47 games with Seattle last season.

Warriors Waive Brown And Burke

The Golden State Warriors have waived guard Tierre Brown and forward Pat Burke, Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Mullin announced today.

Brown and Burke were originally signed as a free agent training camp invitees on October 1. Brown appeared in four preseason contests and averaged 4.5 points and 2.0 assists in 10.8 minutes. Burke saw action in four games and averaged 3.8 points and 3.0 rebounds in 15.3 minutes.

The Warriors roster now stands at 15 players.

Wizards Waive Taylor And Massenburg

Washington Wizards ' President Ernie Grunfeld announced today that the team has waived guard Donell Taylor and center Tony Massenburg.

Taylor appeared in five preseason games and averaged 5.8 points and 1.3 steals in 13.8 minutes per game. He played in 98 career games (two starts) over two seasons with the Wizards and averaged 2.7 points, 1.1 rebounds and 0.9 assists in 8.5 minutes per game as a professional. Taylor originally signed with the Wizards on August 16, 2005 as an undrafted free agent out of UAB.

Massenburg appeared in four games and averaged 2.0 points and 1.8 rebounds in 8.3 minutes per game. Massenburg, a 13-year veteran, originally signed with the Wizards on October 1.

The Wizards' roster now stands at 14.

I'd look at Pat Burke as a possible 6th big as he's a guy who has some experience and gives us an extra body and someone who can shoot real well for his size...

Knicks Cut Houston

The comeback of Allan Houston lasted one week and one game. The Knicks announced today that they will waive former the All-Star shooting guard.

In a press release handed out at the Knicks' open practice at Hofstra University yesterday, Houston said he decided to end his comeback, feeling it was unfair to the team because he needed more time to get into game shape than they Knicks had to give.

"I think it is better for the team to move on without me," Houston said in the release.

Jazz Release Brown, Harvey

Utah Jazz general manager Kevin O’Connor announced Monday, Oct. 22 that the team has requested waivers on forwards Damone Brown and Donnell Harvey. The Jazz roster now stands at 15.

Brown appeared in five preseason contests with the Jazz, averaging 0.4 points, 1.6 rebounds and 0.6 assists in 8.4 minutes. Harvey recorded two preseason games as a Jazzman, registering 2.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 9.5 minutes a game.

Bulls waive Barrett and Homan

October 22, 2007 – The Chicago Bulls announced today the team has waived guard Andre Barrett and forward/center Jared Homan.

Barrett (5-10, 173) appeared in three preseason games with the Bulls and averaged 2.3 ppg and 1.0 apg in 8.3 mpg.

Homan (6-10, 250) saw action in five preseason contests.

Chicago’s preseason roster now stands at 15.

Sixers cut Derrick Byars, who was a rookie out of Vanderbilt... We need to seriously look at the guy... He's got a lot of skill... Jamaal Samspon wouldn't hurt as a 5th big...

Denver Waives Five Players Prior To Opener

The Nuggets on Tuesday waived forward Stacey Augmon, guard Anthony Roberson, forward-center Jelani McCoy, forward-center Brad Stricker and guard Mike Wilks.

The Nuggets' roster is down to 14 with 12 active spots available for Wednesday's season opener vs. the SuperSonics.

Lakers Send Brown, Patterson And Turner Home

The Los Angeles Lakers have requested waivers on Elton Brown, Andre Patterson and Larry Turner, it was announced today.

In three preseason games with the Lakers, Brown tallied one point, two rebounds and one assist in 10 total minutes.

Patterson recorded two points, six rebounds, three steals and four blocks in 25 minutes over three preseason games with the Lakers.

In two preseason games with the Lakers, Turner posted five points, six rebounds and one assist in 11 total minutes.

The New Jersey Nets have requested waivers on forward Jumaine Jones, Nets' President Rod Thorn announced today.

The 6-8 Jones, who signed with the Nets on October 1, 2007, appeared in three preseason games, averaging 3.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game.

The Nets' preseason roster now stands at 19.
