Tristan Thompson

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I remember this same song and dance a year ago when you anointed San Antonio the unstoppable juggernaut due to their off season. How did that turn out again?

I also remember a certain Atlanta team who ambushed us a couple of seasons ago during the regular season with a trapping defense and kicked our ass. 60 win unstoppable juggernaut. Of course, that, like this game, was also a regular season affair. Let us know when they actually win a post season game against us.
Two seasons ago they didn't have mismatch problems to take advantage of ,they do now. No rim protector for kyrie, and they have Dwight.

Go ahead and just worry in the playoffs, I'm not forcing you to be a specific type of fan and neither of us have any control over the team.

If you want to ignore stuff, go for it, but how do we rebound against them and how do we protect the paint?

Im not worried about the Hawks in the playoffs. I think they might win the regular season series against us thought. Im really worried about our defensive rebounding though i think it will be the cause of a number of regular season losses and if we cant build and maintain leads i would be worried about lebron minutes staying high as a result. TT needs to do better and does love because off the bench we have no rebounding

One of the reasons the Cavs were able to dismiss the Hawks in the playoffs the past two seasons was their abysmal rebounding and TT just owning the glass against Horford and Millsap. Now Horford is out, and has turned Boston into the worst rebounding team in the league, while Howard is in and the Hawks are no. 3 after having been third worst last year.
That doesn't turn them into an unstoppable juggernaut, but it does present a different challenge and one that the Cavs aren't necessarily well equipped to address.

I don't think you can blame Horford for the Celtics' rebounding when he's only played 3/7 games due to a concussion. Boston was already a bad rebounding team.

Indeed, I still think Horford was far and away the most overrated acquisition this offseason. He doesn't really move the needle for Boston. Meanwhile I do think the Hawks got better with Howard. Howard would have improved the Celtics more than Horford as well.

TT had a bad game. It happens. He had bad games last season as well. But, I genuinely don't think Hawks are still a threat.

1. Dwight is still quite good but not the Orlando Dwight who was a juggernaut. Remember how Drummond outplayed TT in the regular season but in the playoffs, TT negated him well.
2. The likes of Bazemore and Schroder shots light out. The chances of that happening more than once in a Playoffs series are very less.
3. LeBron was half-arsing in the first half. He ain't scoring 2 points in one half in the play-offs.
4. Ty and the coaching staff usually have better defensive plans in the play-offs. We saw that last year as well when everyone was worried about how we would guard PnR.

Also, we didn't use much of this line-up yesterday:-

Love - LeBron - Shump - JR - Kyrie.

In the playoffs, we can use that line-up and cause all sorts of problem to Hawks. Love is a beast at rebounding the ball. Rebounded a lot against Hawks as well. A play-offs mode LeBron is far more focused on rebounding the ball. Shump is a solid rebounder as well.

The defense was a major reason they lost to the hawks. TT is good defensively, but he can't erase the mistakes of the perimeter guys and defend Dwight. It is too much. TT has done better and better against these larger opponents, and he tends to learn from bad games like this, so I will reserve judgement for later.

Howard can be a force if his back lets him, but there's a lot of games to be played between now and the playoffs. The Cavs obviously can play a lot better than they did as well. Longabardi needs to be given some time to get his defense installed.

Yeah I am still not scared. Too many wide open shots and easy driving lanes for the Hawks.
