Tristan Thompson

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm top 3 biggest TT haters on this board, but TT was fine for us last night. Defended pretty well, was physical and didn't try to over do it offensively. The random 'charge' call on his oop was a bad call on him.

This is most definitely a series we could use spot minutes from him just like last night. Just come in, bang around on the INDY Bigs, don't give up any offensive boards to INDY, crash the offensive glass, and run the floor. Other than that, try to set some screens and roll to to the rim.. otherwise just get the hell out of the way.

But, honestly, he was fine last night. I liked what he did for us, and am perfectly fine with some more spot minutes in Game 5.

He had a 27 ORTG 108 DRG -6.2 PER and -14.5 OBPM.

He looked okay to you because he is the only player resembling a big... We need any sort of screen setter in the lineup and a player not named Kevin Love being the last line of defense.

Pacers are weak inside...Myles Turner is a shot blocker, but is soft inside and Sabonis is no rim protector. Trust me, Zizic would have made a real difference on the offensive end with his size, screen setting and finishing ability in the post and as a Roll Man.

Nance was our real spark plug last night, but he was benched the whole second half...go figure man. As crazy as it is, he has been our 2nd best player and Korver has been our 3rd best player.

What's certain is this, we need to play Nance much more, and we need to run plays for Korver every trip down the court, and keep feeding him the ball even when he starts out cold. Last game he was 0-2, and tonight he was 4-9 and he started out cooold. He was blamed the last game for his performance, but the only difference tonight was that he took more shot attempts, had more plays ran for him and played a bit more, and it was again not nearly enough for a shooter of his caliber. We can't judge a shooter like Korver who's only barometer as a player is his shooting when he only takes 2 shot attempts.

I agree on all points you made. Trust me, I'd LOVE to see Zizic in there instead of TT - it makes a ton of sense. But you and I both know that just isn't going to happen with Lue.

I also agree on Nance, he should be in over TT as well.. But again, if we have to get spot minutes from TT then I'm fine with what he did last night. He didn't seem "in the way" which somehow is an upgrade for him.

Yeah...he was fine on defense and he created enough opening for Lebron in the PnR to kickout for the shooters.. so I didn't feel like he was killing us out there. We are just starving for some real Big Man action and screening. That's obvious as fuck. Love can not screen well and he doesn't exactly knows how to pop either. When you see him screen and pop, he is stuck between a roll and pop, and he just isn't quick enough to pop for 3 before the defender recovers.

I just know that Zizic would change the complexity of the offense so fucking much. It pisses me off so much.

Nice post , you managed to squeeze in your typical Love hate and plugged your man crush for Zizic. You did forget to mention Lue’s name which is odd.

TT would be okay in limited minutes as long as nobody passes him the ball, ever. And his instructions need to be to pass the ball out every time he gets a rebound.I don't even trust this guy to finish a layup on an open fast break. He's lost any jumping ability he once had and his grip is weaker than an injured Kevin Love even though he's completely healthy.

Are you Lues Personal Manager? Just asking out of curiosity.
Let me guess , you were a huge Brady Quinn / Johnny Manziel fan .. you were the guy on the Browns forums with the nickname Brady Manziel.

Busted

I just think it’s funny he got blocked after attempting a half ass layup.

I feel like this is an opportunity to compare that play to his real life situation.

Cavs baseline ratings for the game:
114 ORTG
110 DRTG

Tristan individual ratings for the game:
028 ORTG (worst on the team)
114 DRTG
this is a horseshit stat. they been letting you get away with this crap?

my stats came directly from NBA.com and we are talking about 14 possessions here.

3 screen assist . that's 6 points. 1 regular assist that's 8 points total

8 points contributed to the offense by Tristan on 14 possessions.

You want to analyze a performance you goto NBA.com stats and they break down every play.

that same stat had Trevor booker at 243 o rating and 119 in 100 possessions. ... Trevor was getting eaten alive . and had a -4 net.

quit misleading people.

Lue is gonna watch the tape. we will se more of Tristan. we need Tristan especially for Toronto.

Didn't even read your post after you disagreed with mine. Usually those who use the "disagree" button don't have strong arguments.

***

Tristan is not the player he once was. I hope he can help us in this series and beyond, but I'm not relying on it at all. He was ok last night, and had a positive plus/minus so I'm thankful for that. Even though it's sad to see what's become of him, at least in the short term.

There's a reason why Tristan was removed from the playoff rotation.

Right now, he looks done. But as I said in another thread, I hope he goes 30/20 tomorrow with +30 and makes me look dumb. I'll be thrilled if that happens.

statistic abuse is a horrible thing and always worthy of a disagree.

Tristan played for 14 possessions. he made an impact and most likely it will lead to more minutes.
I supported this with the actual metrics of the game and you come back with some garbage 7 minute 100 possession basic box score ratings.
Also you keep talking about last year... Tristan Thompson had an excellent playoffs last year and you seem to remember one series where Tye Lue's only adjustment was to yank Thompson because he isn't much of a coach.

the idea that Tristan would need to have a 30/20 night to have any value is absurd.
