Tyronn Lue has been fired

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
We've also had some luck, but hell, you need that too. Love getting those early fouls changed the game (though he was playing well), Bogut being out, Iggy having back issues....

Two days rest and if Iggy is still not healthy, we've got a really good shot.
Yeah Kevin love is now the only aspect of 'stick with what got us here' mindset that has me nervous for game 7. Refs helped us in a sense with the fouls. He runs like a duck in thick mud on d. Good player but time to accept this isn't his matchup. Jefferson is so intelligent reading the warriors ball movement. He knows where to go and when.

Lue has been absolutely masterful in this series, just a phenomenal job. Anyone saying he's just riding Lebron and Irving's greatness is missing the big picture.

From navigating the Love situation, strategic adjustments, using his timeouts to stem GS runs, sneaking rest for the regulars at key times.... terrific job utilizing what he has.

He clearly has the right temperament to guide this machine, no way he's not back next year, hopefully long term.

The final ultimate chess match. Everything you have left to be put on the table, every tactic left to help you win one game.

That being said, I'm not sure what the Warriors have left that could possibly surprise anyone as far as strategy and lineups go. They put it all on the line for the last 2 games, because they didn't want a game 7. Are they going to continue to ride with Barnes? I suppose they have to, but Barbosa or the bigs will probably get more PT if Barnes continues to miss open shots. On defense, they could "surprise" us with more traps and doubles on Kyrie and LeBron and dare other people to beat you, so the role players really have to be ready to step up.

Kyrie, LeBron, and TT are probably going to get 40+ minutes no matter what. But do we continue to trust Shump? What do we do with Love? I feel like we have plenty of players that could come in and have the potential to make a big impact that haven't played much, which is a nice thing to have up your sleeve.

Lue just needs to be smarter with his timeouts, but he is usually quicker to call them to stop runs on the road with the crowd in to it. I just hope he coaches the game of his life, makes every right move, and just totally out coaches them.

Smarter time outs, quicker decisions on the floor, coach Kyrie to pass out of the traps (you can see them coming a mile off) or move more toward the top of the arc. If we clean up some of these little stupid things we've been doing, we can win this.

One thing that Lue needs to get a LOT more credit for: he recognized that the only way to beat the Warriors was to play at a faster pace, which flew in the face of conventional wisdom against them. But as the previous OKC series and this series have shown, the best way to beat the Warriors is with a faster tempo (most likely because they have an incredible defense and they can just out-execute teams). Basically all the Warriors losses this playoffs came when the game was at a faster tempo. And Lue has done several things to encourage that faster tempo - from benching Mozgov, to playing James at the four more, to giving more time to lineups with Jefferson instead of those with Love.
Plus reviewing all that film allowed him to adjust how the Cavs were defensing GS's backdoor cuts and most importantly their screens..which Shumpert needs to pay more attention too.

Warriors are probably just hoping their role players play better and step up at home, than making any dramatic scheme changes. I bet they're thinking if they shoot closer to their averages they should win.

Can't the same be said for the Cavs. If Love shoots closer to his averages then this isn't a series... Sometimes the Defense forces you into bad shots and it is the Defense more so than just missing shots.

Didnt someone say that if they shot their average they would have still lost by 6? lets hope thats how it plays out next time :biggrinthumb:

This is why the Cavs are winning. They are not adjusting much. they think they are good enough to beat the Cavs, but the Cavs have improved since last game. They are playing at the Warriors speed. I said this when the series started that the Warriors are playing at their top level. The Cavs still have upside. Role players have a lot of confidence going into this one. Pressure is all on Golden State.

Ty is a fucking savage, man! :chuckle:

If they ask Lue about Kerr's comments, he should say "Love had some mysterious foul calls against him early. LeBron seemed to not get many calls either. But the difference is that I didn't cry about it."

Dude doesn't get enough props for the adjustments and how he motivated us to fight after going down 3-1

Saying if you don't think we can win don't get on the plane is huge.

I have a feeling Lue has an emotional connection to a lot of the players and he can tell when they feel a certain way. He just seems like the type of guy who can sense when your lying or slacking. Makes you not wanna let him down.

Crazy part is I truely feel Blatt had that too but his rookie mistakes made the players not believe in him
